Job Description

We are looking for you as our new VP Marketing Region Europe. In this role you will be part of our Regional Lead Team. The position is based at HQ in Basel and reports to the EVP Region Europe. In this position, you will provide strategic and commercial direction for the Region and Marketing teams. For the cross-functional collaboration, we expect a team player with strong communication and relationship skills. You should be an engaging personality and leader who is able to build and sustain excellent business interactions.

Ensures the efficient set-up of structures, resources and processes in all commercial areas of the organization 

  • Functional leadership and coaching of the local Marketing Teams
  • Direct leadership and coaching of regional marketing team
  • Monitors the team’s capabilities and competencies and defines measures in order to ensure industry leading and comprehensive marketing skills
  • Ensures all critical marketing commercial areas are well structured and set-up in European countries, supporting the achievement of the respective business goals
  • Identifies areas of improvement across Europe or in individual countries, provides a concept to initiate improvements and drives implementation of measures
  • Identifies potential areas of cross-border collaborations and helps implementing
  • Conducts and facilitates best-practice sharing across region and its countries/hubs
  • Defines & aligns pricing strategies
  • Contributes to budget plans and strategic business aspiration

Ensures continuously strong development of business franchises and drives commercialization of new products and the roll-out of new business areas in the European markets

  • Provides strategic thought leadership and drives the regional business strategy. Defines business priorities, based on proper analysis of relevant market and sales data. Translates insights into key strategies and tactical plans, including the establishment of effective KPI’s
  • Supports the annual business planning process and helps developing proper business objectives including all net sales and cost dimensions
  • Orchestrates with the regional team the local roll-outs of global marketing & product initiatives, drives regional / local top spin
  • Leads and drives strategic projects (e.g. new business development)
  • In collaboration with countries, identifies new sales opportunities and approaches them actively. Ensures a consistent and effective commercial approach for the overall business and new product/solution launches, i.e. orchestrates tactics and execution along the dimensions of sales, marketing and education (incl. KOL pool per initiative)

Ensure strong collaboration and alignment with the Global Marketing & Education Teams and all relevant Headquarter functions of the brands involved

  • Provides input reflecting local market needs to Global Marketing & Education and all relevant global brands
  • Represents Sales Region Europe in alignment and discussion of global projects and strategies. Adds local perspective, market potentials and implementation requirements to the process
  • Ensures the execution of the aligned overall strategy in close collaboration with Global Marketing & Education and all relevant global brands
  • Supports hub/countries in ongoing queries and coordinates required support from global functions for local organizations

 

Qualifications

  • Academic background with degree in business administration, strong focus on marketing and sales
  • Several years of leadership experience and strong track record within a direct sales environment; preferably knowledgeable about Medical Device industry
  • Experienced hunter of commercial opportunities with ability to articulate and action lead generation right through the sales cycle
  • Experienced in international business environment
  • Experienced working in matrix organizations and possesses high learning agility
  • Engaging personality paired with influencing skills and leads by coaching others
  • Able to build and maintain excellent business relationships
  • Structured, analytical with good business acumen
  • Good team player paired with a strong sense of accountability and result orientation
