Job Description

The Old McGill Yearbook Section Editor is responsible for the successful implementation of publication according to the vision of the Old McGill Editor-in-Chief and the Communications and Publications Manager. The Section Editor will be assigned a particular section of the Yearbook and will be responsible for researching images and sourcing copy for that section. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1) Oversee particulars, depending on workload, of the Old McGill Yearbook;

2) Work with the online editing interface as provided by the publisher in order to coordinate section content;

3) Ensure that all content aligns with the vision of Old McGill as laid out by the Editor-in-Chief;

4) Explore different options for content which reflect the publication’s vision and the vision of the SSMU;

5) Meet weekly with the Editor-in-Chief and Communications and Publications Manger in order to provide updates on the progress of all assignments and provide input as to the direction of the publication;

6) Adhere to the Editorial Calendar as laid out by the Editor-in-Chief;

7) In meetings, contribute ideas as far as how to best market Old McGill, brand Old McGill, and drive sales;

8) File a transition report when the book is finished, detailing step by step information on how the book is to be created, useful websites, contact information, and tips for the next Old McGill team.

Qualifications

1) Experience with publications;

2) Organized and capable of following through on a year-long project;

3) Page layout, graphic design experience is an asset;

4) Editing skills is an asset;

5) Experience working on teams and following deadlines is an asset.

Additional Information

• Paid position: $11.38 per hour

• Hours: On average 4 hours per week

• Contract: September 4th, 2015 through April 30th, 2016
