Job Description

The Library Improvement Fund Commissioner will coordinate the yearly allocation of the Library Improvement Fund and SSMU relations with the McGill Libraries.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Coordinating the formation, meetings, and activities of the SSMU Library Improvement Fund Committee;
  2. Liaising with the McGill Libraries on issues and potential projects, in collaboration with the Vice-President (University Affairs);
  3. Sitting as a student representative on the Senate Committee on Libraries;
  4. Organizing an annual consultation period for student feedback on library issues and potential projects;
  5. Publicizing an open application period for the Library Improvement Fund and acting as a resource for proposal development;
  6. Liaising with Faculty associations and other relevant groups to solicit feedback and develop projects;
  7. Compiling the annual report of the Library Improvement Fund Committee and presenting it to SSMU Legislative Council;
  8. Publicizing Library Improvement Fund projects to SSMU members and the university-at-large.

Qualifications

1. Experience in project and/or committee coordination;
2. Highly organized and strong attention to detail;
3. Good written and verbal communication skills;
4. Knowledge of the SSMU website, SSMU mandates and SSMU events and activities;
5. Initiative and results driven oriented;
6. Familiarity with the operations and administration of the McGill Libraries is an asset.

 

Additional Information

 

  • Paid position: $13.88/hour
  • Hours: On average 4 hours per week;
  • Contract: September 1st, 2019 through April 30th, 2020;
