Job Description

The Email Marketing Manager will be responsible for developing, deploying and monitoring email marketing campaigns targeted at driving traffic to client or agency-produced web properties; using email to convert site users to registered users and to customers; increasing e-commerce/B2B site revenues; improving customer communications, and providing prompt, direct customer service email responses across various accounts. As a part of the Sullivan Branding Digital Team, the Email Marketing Manager is responsible for coordinating with the Digital Project Manager and working with the account and creative teams to implement email campaigns in an efficient, cost-effective manner. Additionally, this person will contribute clear, well-conceived email marketing proposals for overall digital strategic marketing plans. The Email Marketing Manager will also be responsible for managing email segmentation, technology implementations, and email delivery and acquisition efforts, while working closely with Account Service to create reporting dashboards and analysis tools that will help drive overall email strategy.


Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Conceives, develops, and presents email marketing plans to support and enhance overall client digital strategic marketing plans.

• Works with designers, programmers and copywriters to implement email services as an important element in the digital eco-system.

• Plans and executes email campaigns - oversees and improves full process: creative development, segmentation and data processing, pre-deployment testing and QC, and back-end analysis.

• Drives email list growth strategies and execution across multiple channels, serving as an email acquisition expert across the agency.

• Prioritizes emails based on overall digital strategy, as well as resource allocation.

• Designs and executes tests that support key hypotheses and deliver actionable learnings that contribute to business growth.

• Oversees effective customer segmentation and highly persuasive messaging driven by customer insight and email best practices.

• Owns the email communication to customer database.

• Manages data integrity/cleanliness for consumer databases.

• Partners effectively with cross-functional teams to drive successful campaign execution—including setting effective pre-campaign metrics, educating Account Service partners and clients, executing campaign deliverables, producing clear, concise reporting and analysis.

• Analyzes the data from email marketing programs and industry research to make adjustments/recommendations and develop internal best practices.

• Proactively identifies opportunities for process improvement and reducing execution complexity.

• Strongly focuses on user experience and customer purchase flows.

• Experience managing multiple simultaneous projects from concept to completion under tight deadlines.

• Drives marketing strategies and product development related to email channel.

• Performs A/B testing on multiple campaigns to continually improve campaign performance.

• Develops email strategies to drive efficient open and click thru rates and measurable lift in customer engagement and retention.

• Provides analyses of email campaigns and recommendations for strengthening performance and enhancing effectiveness.

• Maintains email campaign calendar and drives any seasonal/thematic email recommendations.

• Stays current on email best practices surrounding performance, mobile adoption, social media integration, and developments in technology to ensure efficient and customer-sensitive implementation of email marketing.

• Identifies email opportunities through industry research and competitive benchmarking.

• Creates behavior-based triggers using browsing behavior, segmentation, and customer lifecycle events.

• Provides standardized email channel KPIs on a weekly basis.

Qualifications

• Expert knowledge of email best practices including targeted lists, subject lines, messaging and deliverability.

• Experience building business requirements for list segmentation, work flows and triggered events within an ESP.

• Understanding of A/B and multivariate testing methodologies. 

• Strong analytic skills, including experience with quantitative test design, customer segmentation, tracking results and interpreting key take-aways.

• Strong quantitative skills and desire to make data-driven decisions; Experience with web analytics 

• Appreciation for effective user experience strategies

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; self-starter

• Excellent teamwork and communication, presentation skills, both written and verbal

• Customer-centric mind-set, constantly seeking ways to improve the customer email experience

• Proven experience participating in cross-functional teams

• Demonstrated history of successful project management skills

• Proven track record of excellence in fast-moving agency or marketing environment

• Ability to complete assignments within tight and often difficult deadlines

• Experience understanding, building and interpreting email metrics

• Well organized with attention to detail and ability to follow-through

Additional Information

Skills & Requirements 

• 3+ years of Email Marketing experience (preferably with list sizes 150,000+).

• 3+ years of experience building direct to consumer email campaigns

• HTML skills a plus
