Job Description

We are seeking a BI Data Analyst who has both deep and broad MS SQL Server & BI knowledge. good written and oral communication skills and the ability to interface technically with BI Data Engineering team members 


The person we seek will be working as part of a small team, and therefore is able to have a significant effect on the business with what they do. This a great opportunity for a hands-on BI Analyst to lead and communicate with both stakeholders (non-technical people) and engineering teams in a hands-on technical capacity while getting exposure to cutting edge big data structures such as hadoop, MPP, teradata, netezza and more.


This BI Analyst will come ready to assist business teams in investigating and consuming analytical report metrics and data from dimensional models while applying statistical analysis for adhoc projects. Backed by hands-on ability with advanced MS SQL, this person is capable of translating arithemetic solutions and statistical models into implementable SQL code.  

Qualifications

The analyst we seek has 3- 5 years experience in an analytical / research environment, and is skilled at writing and using SQL for exploratory data analysis including collecting, assembling, cleansing, and formatting data and validation of results. This person will help others to understand data and which formats to build, identify rules around data logic problems, as well as develop actionable insights in order to make strong recommendations on key business strategies.


Solid knowledge of sub queries, aggregate functions (sum, min, max) and windowing functions (first_value, last_value, lead, lag) within SQL is essential. This person is capable of designing experiments and methodologies to generate and collect data for business use.


You should have 2 - 3 years work experience using descriptive and inferential statistics to analyze, research and present findings, and have experience using visualization techniques for presenting data and analysis visually. Ideally, knowledge of Tableau.


You bring 5- 8 years experience writing SQL for data analysis to this role, as well as strong communicative abilities in working with business teams to identify and define problems. 


Ideally you have had experience using a statistical software package or R (R is preferred; SPSS, SAS , etc).


 Ability to use atleast one programming language to move and parse data sets.
