Through this work, we empower young men to become the next generation of black technologist committed to strengthening the  broader economic development of the Bay Area.

Job Description

The Hidden Genius Project is seeking a dynamic individual with a keen desire to utilize their research, marketing, and PR skills to help launch a blockbuster crowdfunding campaign. In the fall of 2015, we anticipate this campaign to obtain  thousands of contributors and national press coverage. The Marketing Intern must be self-motivated, task-focused and creative, with the ability to participate in various planning and execution stages of this landmark initiative. Joining this effort will be an exceptional opportunity for a current student or recent grad to gain real-world, hands-on marketing experience. 


Qualifications

  • Market Research & Analysis
  • Basic fundraising skills (preferred, but not required)
  • Demonstrated ability to learn on the job
  • Proficiency with popular social media tools, such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, among others.
  • High energy level, with excellent people skills
  • Ability to work in a self-directed environment
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and Google Drive preferred, but not required.


Additional Information

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • Research– Research and identify successful crowdfunding campaigns within a similar scope as The Hidden Genius Project; identify prospective funders, press contacts, tech sector influencers, including, but not limited to, for profit, not for profit, government organizations, and individuals, thereafter, compiling all data into a spreadsheet for strategic outreach. 
  • Communication– Support the creation of the pitch, overview, and reward content, which will be featured on the crowdfunding campaign page.
  • Social media – Help to drive and grow The Hidden Genius Project’s social presence across multiple digital media platforms, including, but not limited to: MailChimp, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube. 
  • Logistical support– Support the coordination of in-office meetings and community events including scheduling, venue arrangements, set-up, equipment needs, refreshments, materials, and event invitations and RSVP processes. 
  • Other duties as assigned by the Development Director – Works with other staff as needed to accomplish tasks and responsibilities and other duties as assigned by the Development Director.

Compensation: 

This is an unpaid internship; however we are happy to support requests for academic credit and/or sign off on volunteer service hours.
