The opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi

Te Puna Aronui: The School of Humanities within the Faculty of Arts at the University of Auckland, invites applications for a fixed-term appointment as Lecturer in Greek from the beginning of February 2022 until the end of February 2023 (13 months). The successful candidate will be expected to deliver courses in Greek language and literature and contribute more widely to the teaching of courses in the discipline of Classical Studies and Ancient History.

He kōrero mōu | About you

Applicants should have a PhD or nearly-completed doctorate in Classical Studies and Ancient History or a related field, in addition to experience in the delivery of courses in a tertiary setting. Experience in blended learning and online course delivery is advantageous. It is envisaged that the successful applicant will undertake a small portfolio of postgraduate supervision.

  • Effective record of teaching in a tertiary setting
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues and diverse student learners
  •  Ability to undertake research aligned with this role and meet UOA Academic standards
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to participate as an effective team member, to contribute ideas and plans with the department
  • Knowledge of and commitment to Te Tiriti O Waitangi would be a added benefit

Qualifications

PhD or nearly completed doctorate in Classical Studies and Ancient History or related discipline.
