The Centre for eResearch is a University platform providing eResearch capability across Waipapa Taumata Rau | University of Auckland. Our mission is to develop new ways to apply computer and information technology to research disciplines, and then help researchers to use them. This mission applies to the entire range of research disciplines across the University.

We seek creative, enthusiastic, and talented people to join our eResearch team who enjoy interacting with researchers and working in a dynamic team environment. You will contribute to and benefit from the team’s broad skill base and be excited by the opportunity to work across multiple research fields and in a variety of different capacities. Researcher needs are always changing, so the support we offer is constantly evolving to keep pace with emerging needs and opportunities.

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We’re looking for a self-motivated person with a strong grounding in university research environments. Experience with research software or computational languages (e.g., Python, R), and digital data and computational skills (e.g., understanding of Git, Linux, and virtual machines) would be advantageous. You will bring your skills and passion from any number of various areas, such as: domain research, data science and analytics, research management, information, and library sciences, or teaching and outreach, to complement the team. Key to success will be having a demonstrable understanding of the research data landscape, a genuine desire to deliver and help improve digital research data services and solutions and contribute to researcher skills and development.

In this role you will proactively engage with the research community - research staff, research postgraduates, and those that support them - across the University raising awareness and use of modern research technologies and tools, including CeR services. You will enable researchers to manage research data following best practices, including FAIR, CARE and Māori Data Sovereignty data principles, through the delivery of data consultations, presentations, workshops, and online resources. You will also contribute to the organisation and delivery of digital research skills and community building offerings, and the provision of CeR core services.

Research needs and opportunities are constantly evolving and emerging, so we are looking for people who are willing and able to quickly learn new skills. You will need to be an effective communicator and take ownership to deliver results in our open, collaborative environment. You will also have a demonstrable passion for research and for supporting researchers.

This role is a Fulltime, Fixed-Term position for 12 Months.

Remuneration: $76,200 – 94,100 negotiable on experience and qualifications
