We have two exciting opportunities to join our Event Services Team at the University of Auckland as an Event and Conference Planner, both permanent and fixed term (12 months) opportunities are available.

An Events and Conference Planner will focus on delivering both academic conferences and student events. They will work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, and will be accountable for end-to-end event management, including project planning, budget management, risk assessment, customer communications, onsite management and debriefs. They will provide expertise, guidance and advice to ensure informed and timely decisions are made ensuring the success of the event.

Both positions are full-time at are based at the Auckland City Campus.
The salary range is between $54,700 - 74,000 based on experience and qualifications.

About the team | Mō tō mātou rōpū

Reporting to Event Services, you will work collaboratively with a team of dedicated, innovative and proactive individuals ensuring successful delivery of a wide variety of events – from formal dinners and conferences to recruitment events and everything in between.

About you | He kōrero mōu

Our ideal candidate will have a minimum for 2-3 years’ experience implementing both virtual and in-person events, excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to inform and advise stakeholders. You will need to hit the ground running and be able to multi-task and work confidently under pressure. You’ll need to use your initiative, and work both independently as well as part of a team.

This role would suit a highly organised go getter with excellent communication skills and a proactive approach. Event experience within a tertiary institution or business events would be an advantage.

Important Skills | Nga Pūkenga Motuhake

  • Experience in a similar role is required and qualification in Events or tertiary degree is preferred.
  • Experience producing virtual events
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong administrative skills
  • Database management desirable
  • High attention to detail with the ability to multi-task
  • High level of competence with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, PPT Teams and Outlook.
  • Experience with event management software (ideally Events Air).
