The Shared Transaction Centre (STC) is the University of Auckland’s centralised ‘Purchase to Pay’ and ‘Accounts Receivable’ centre. It is responsible for all purchasing, billing, and revenue collection activity for faculties and most service divisions.  We perform an operational function, consolidating high volume finance transactional activities relating to the purchasing and supply of goods and services.

Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity  

This role is ideal for an organised multitasker.  You will make the best use of resources, systems, and expertise to deal with exception handling; supporting the development of a service user ethos and improve user facing services.  Using your strong customer centric principles, you will work with internal and external stakeholders to reduce exceptions and maximise automation, to enable the University to move toward best practice for financial processing, administrative efficiency and improve service delivery across the organisation.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to. 

  • Requisition requests 
  • Invoice processing
  • Match exceptions resolutions
  • Receipting escalations
  • Supplier maintenance 
  • Co-ordination and execution of foreign and domestic pay runs, working with Treasury, signatories, and the banks.
  • Identify technical roadblocks and opportunities, and suggesting improvements that always consider the voice of the customer, and the wider impacts outside of STC 
  • You will need to gain and utilise a thorough knowledge and understanding of university policies to support process re-engineering: 
  • Financial Delegations 
  • Sensitive Expenditure 
  • Travel 
  • Purchasing
  • Escalating common issues to the advisory team for internal/external customer re- education. 

This position is fulltime (37.5 hours per week)
Annual compensation is $48,000 plus, dependent on experience.

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills 

  • Exceptional customer service is essential, and a good working knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials would be an advantage to this role. 
  • Experience in Accounts Payable with relative New Zealand legislation and statutory requirements 
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in service management, process improvement projects and working collaboratively 
  • Experience in aspects of ERP systems, preferably in a university environment 
  • IRD knowledge is advantage, but not critical requirement
