The Department of Information Systems and Operations Management (ISOM) is one of seven departments within the UABS. The department teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in most aspects of Information Systems, and also teaches Operations and Supply Chain Management, and Business Analytics. The Centre of Digital Enterprise (CODE), housed within ISOM, conducts research that takes a broad view on digital transformation, designed to address contemporary challenges faced by societies, enterprises, policy makers and individuals.

Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

The Department of Information Systems and Operations Management (ISOM) is seeking to appoint three full time permanent staff  – a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Information Systems. These positions may be considered as equivalent to an Assistant Professor position in the US and Europe.

There is a preference for at least one of the individuals to have expertise in qualitative research. An interest in and ability to publish in top Information Systems journals (specifically, the “Basket of 8'' journals) is a key requirement for these positions. For the Senior Lecturer position, two publications in Basket of 8 (or equivalent) is required. It is also important that a candidate regularly participates in top IS conferences and is involved with the IS scholarly community.

In terms of teaching, it is highly desirable that candidate hired for one of the available positions is able to teach in the business analytics area.

This is full-time (40 hours pw), permanent position.

An appointment will be made at Lecturer (L1-L7; $86,979 - 103,904) or Senior Lecturer (SL1-SL5; $110,579-127,034).

  • Proven track record of quality research and potential to publish in top IS outlets.
  • Must demonstrate evidence of teaching experience and excellence (for Senior Lecturer)
  • Must show promise for teaching excellence (for Lecturer)
