Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We are on the lookout for a Pharmacy Teaching Technician to join our team on a part time (22.5 hours per week) permanent basis at the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, the University of Auckland, Grafton Campus. The Pharmacy Teaching Technician is responsible for the day-to-day operation of Pharmacy teaching laboratories and provide staff and students with “pharmacy-related” technical skills and services, whilst contributing to the development of practical learning resources and activities.

Deliverables include:

  • Provide technical support for academic teaching staff instructing students on relevant pharmacy practice techniques
  • Handle medication (prescription and pharmacy only medicines)
  • Provide extemporaneous compounding and aseptic compounding
  • expertise

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • NZQA or equivalent qualification as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Legally allowed to handle medication (prescription and pharmacy only medicines)
  • Experience in Pharmacy practice laboratory techniques and procedures (especially Dispensing)
  • Working knowledge of and experience with pharmacy and medicines legislation
  • Working knowledge of pharmacy software as used in hospital and/or community pharmacies
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Provide extemporaneous compounding and aseptic compounding expertise.

This is a permanent, part time 0.6FTE (22.5 hours per week) position.
Remuneration: $55,000 - $65,000 per annum pro rata
