Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity  

The University of Auckland is progressing a major Finance Transformation Programme to deliver a new Finance ERP and its supporting ecosystem. We are looking for a Solutions Architect (Digital Solutions Architect) to contribute to shaping practical, well-designed solutions that align with our Target Architecture, non-functional requirements and University standards. 

Reporting to the Solutions Architecture Manager, you will support and guide solution design across multiple systems and teams, helping ensure designs are cohesive, achievable and considerate of programme timelines and constraints. 

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Refine and communicate the Finance Target Architecture with the Lead Architect across application, integration and data views. 
  • Support end-to-end solution design for key finance workstreams, ensuring designs work smoothly across systems and teams. 
  • Review vendor designs and configurations and provide constructive guidance to align solutions with architecture, security and integration standards. 
  • Work with Integration Architects and technical teams to shape interfaces between the Finance ERP and connected systems. 
  • Ensure nonfunctional requirements such as security, performance, reliability and supportability are fully considered in design and planning. 
  • Contribute to deployment and release planning, identify technical risks and trade-offs, and maintain clear and accessible solution design documentation. 

Please note, this is a full-time (37.5 hours/ week) fixed-term (24-month) position, with a salary range of $155,000 - $175,000 per annum depending on skills and experience.

Rātonga Matihiko | Digital Services is the service division with accountability for agreeing the University’s digital strategy and executing its technology plan. Its responsibilities are broad and its expertise and focus areas span product and service lines from provision of devices, seamless connectivity and collaboration services, supporting learning, teaching, research and administration with software-based solutions, high-performance computing, and supporting new learning and teaching delivery modes.   

He kōrero mōu | About you    

  • Solid experience as a Solutions Architect or Senior Technical Lead on large scale ERP or finance system programmes in complex organisations. 
  • Strong understanding of finance business processes and related solution patterns, such as general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, procurement, projects and asset management. 
  • Practical experience designing solutions using contemporary integration patterns such as APIs, event-based integrations and file-based interfaces, ideally in a cloud environment. 
  • Familiarity with architectural frameworks, reference architectures and design governance practices, and ability to apply them pragmatically. 
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to facilitate workshops, explain options clearly and work collaboratively with vendors, IT teams and business stakeholders to progress solutions within programme timelines.
