Overview

Scouts citrus field / nursery searching for signs of pest problems including but not limited to insects, diseases, weeds, and nematodes.

Here’s what you’ll do:

• Walks a min of 5 miles a day in fields checking for insects, diseases, weeds, and other issues.
• Walks citrus farms checking for insects, diseases, weeds, and other issues.
• Must be able to identify insects with and without magnifying lens.
• Collects soil and tissue samples for lab analysis.
• Performs other technical tasks as assigned by supervisor.
• Using current technology, completes daily scout reports on cell phone or computer.
• Must understand and follow Supervisor’s directions and meet standards set for each of the jobs that may be assigned.
• Performs all tasks in a safe manner.  Required to wear all safety gear assigned and asks for instructions when unfamiliar or lacking knowledge of proper safety procedures.

Here’s what you’ll bring to the table:

• Valid Texas Drivers License
• Excellent planning and scheduling abilities
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to read and write English
• Citrus farming experience preferred 
• Experience with electronic devices for data entry and management
