About The Role
As part of the Global Accounting Team, this position will, i) direct the U.S. Accounting Team that is responsible for North America and selected APAC subsidiaries’ accounting, ii) oversee the monthly accounting consolidation of Tradeshift Holdings, Inc., and all worldwide subsidiaries, iii) provide technical accounting analysis for complex transactions, and, iv) coordinate interaction with other Tradeshift units such as Revenue Accounting, AR & Collections, Payroll, FP&A and Corporate Tax. This leadership position is an integral part of the consolidated accounting and financial reporting processes, supports preparation of monthly and year-end financial statements and supports corporate, statutory and tax-related audits. The Director, Accounting will work under the supervision and guidance of the Vice President, Global Controller.

The Director, Accounting will ensure recurring accounting responsibilities of the U.S. Accounting Team are performed timely, accurately, in conformance with U.S. GAAP and meeting established deadlines. Setting Team goals and objectives, managing/overseeing projects, identifying and implementing workflow improvements, and identifying and resolving accounting issues are key requirements for this role. Effective personnel management, project management and communication skills and the ability to coordinate across teams are integral to successfully achieving these responsibilities.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Ensure timely and accurate processing and recording of cash transactions, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accounts payable and accrued expenses, expense reimbursements, sales commissions, share-based compensation, borrowings, capital transactions and inter-company transactions for US, Canada and Malaysia entities
  • Ensure month-end balances and related monthly income and expenses related to bank transactions, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, sales commissions, share-based compensation, borrowings, inter-company AR and AP and capital transactions for US, Canada and Malaysia entities are reviewed and reconciled
  • Direct and review monthly and quarterly close and consolidation activities using Netsuite, including internal and external financial reporting
  • Ensure timely and accurate weekly/periodic cashflow analysis and forecasting processes
  • Ensure compliance with financial, statutory, tax and managerial accounting requirements
  • Direct the U.S. Accounting Team support for the annual corporate audit, selected statutory audits and tax audits. Review audit schedules, audit issues and respond to requests and inquiries from auditors
  • Partner with all units and levels of the Accounting and Finance Organization to deliver timely and accurate accounting and management information
  • Establish goals and objectives for the U.S. Accounting Team, organize Team and supplemental resources for projects and effectively manage projects
  • Proactively identify and implement ways to improve efficiency, accuracy and controls over accounting processes
  • Recruit, train, manage and develop members of the U.S. Accounting Team comprised of degreed accounting professionals
  • Perform other ad-hoc tasks and duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

  • Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; Masters degree or MBA a plus. You have CPA certification or demonstrated progress towards CPA certification
  • Possess strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP in all areas of direct accounting responsibility and ability to apply it to applicable business transactions. Your experience in payroll, equity compensation, commissions, allowance for doubtful accounts, and/or SaaS revenue accounting is a plus
  • Have 10+ years’ experience of general accounting, monthly accounting close and internal/external consolidated financial reporting involving a parent and multiple non-dollar subsidiaries
  • Have experience in analyzing a range of complex transactions, determining the appropriate accounting treatment under U.S. GAAP, the ability to effectively communicate these issues to Accounting management and staff, and to document the accounting analysis and conclusions
  • Have significant Netsuite (or other ERP system) operation experience, systems implementations /  conversions / integrations experience and creating customized reports/files from application/ERP systems
  • Are detail oriented, have strong organization skills, have the ability to anticipate, identify and solve problems and have good analytical skills
  • Are able to plan, organize and delegate Accounting Team responsibilities as well as work hands-on when necessary
  • Possess strong Excel skills for data management, review and analysis
  • Possess leadership skills, a positive attitude and flexibility; able to embrace and promote change
  • Are self-directed, able to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities and a work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Are able to lead the US Accounting Team to consistently meet recurring responsibilities timely and with high quality, plus the ability to effectively manage projects to meet objectives
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels within the organization
  • Possess strong cross-functional collaboration skills
