Job Description

PURPOSE & SCOPE

Provide assistance to the Service Technicians by picking up and delivering parts to their job sites, loading and unloading equipment and shop tools, and performing other services as requested. This person is also responsible for Service warehouse maintenance and specific warehouse tasks and must have a mechanical background.

 

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

  •  Reports to Service Operations Team Leader
  • Assists Service Technicians
  • Dispatched by the Service Resource Coordinators
  • Has functional relationships with:

          Service Account Managers

          Parts Department personnel

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Service Department

  • Pick up and deliver parts, tools and equipment at job sites as dispatched through the Resource Coordinators.
  • Responsible for servicing and maintaining recovery and recycling equipment.
  • Responsible for service, repair, maintenance and inventory of shop tools, assist with check in and check out. Ensure that shop tools are in good repair.
  • Work with Field Service Supervisor on all HAZMAT/refrigerant identification and labeling. Ship waste refrigerant and empty drums as needed.
  • Assist with waste oil storage and disposal. Order containment drums as needed. Ensure the waste oil log is properly completed weekly.
  • Responsible for performing and documenting ladder, chain hoist, shop equipment safety inspections.
  • Keep shop area and warehouse office neat, clean and orderly as directed by the Service Operations Team Leader.
  • Operate forklift.
  • Order rags and other shop supplies as needed.
  • Other duties and tasks as requested.            

 

Paperwork

  • Work orders to be properly filled out for all labor and turned in daily.
  • Expense forms to be filled in with job expenses assigned to jobs or departments where applicable, with the necessary receipts and invoice copies.

 

Safety

  • Perform work safely and in accordance to established procedures.
  • Operate tools and equipment with proper safety devises intact.
  • Report any unsafe equipment or working conditions to supervisor immediately.
  • Wear appropriate safety equipment or clothing as required by TRANEOREGON.
  • Participate in safety training for forklift and "tailgate" safety meetings.
  • Assist with safety inspection of electrical cords, ladders, etc.

Qualifications

SPECIFIC JOB SKILLS

  • Basic knowledge of HVAC principals AND mechanical ability
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in an environment of changing time constraints and deadlines.
  • Friendly, tactful and customer service oriented
  • Demonstrated skill in using basic hand tools.
  • Ability to write clearly for frequent, routine, paperwork

           

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs
  • Clean, neat appearance

 

 OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • ValidOregondriver's license.
  • 21 years of age (requirement of our insurance company for operation of company vehicle)
  • Good driving record, no current violations (Last three years).
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening test.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Working hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM with occasional overtime.
  • The job requires driving to many locations around thePortlandand vicinity in a company vehicle, with occasional out of town trips.
  • The company provides a uniform and it must be worn
  • Approximately 20% of working time is in a heated warehouse area or office environment.
  • Frequent interpersonal contacts with managers, supervisors, and associates.
  • Includes occasionally working around electricity, machinery, noise and hazardous chemicals.



PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES

 

  • May not make non-budgeted purchases or commitment of company funds in excess of $50 without approval of immediate supervisor.
  • Business behavior/anti-trust - may not discuss with competitor (including other Trane agencies and manufacturers representatives) company prices, structures, costs, profits, terms of sale, wages paid, of anything relating to financial/economic concerns. Violation of this policy is grounds for termination.
  • May not make changes in job description without the approval of the Service Operations Supervisor.
