About the job

The Email Marketing Manager is responsible for the planning, execution, and measurement of all elements of our email channel. This person will build out an automated, personalized email program, create newsletters that resonate with our users, as well as organize and grow our external email partnerships. This role develops hypotheses and tests them, understands our demographic and what is important to them, understands the greater email ecosphere and what tools can elevate our efforts. The right candidate approaches email from a quantitative perspective, knows how to scale successful initiatives, and can execute or pitch-in on all areas of email development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, launch, test, and analyze simple to highly advanced email campaigns
  • Own end-to-end creation of global email campaigns (list segmentation, copy, wireframes, testing, etc)
  • Develop ‘smart’ automated email strings leveraging internal resources and external tools to reengage our users and drive conversions
  • Execute and report on A/B testing as our email channel champion to ensure campaigns meet business goals
  • Anticipate business needs and ensure that tracking, data collection, and segmentation is suited to fit our developing business requirements
  • Manage and grow our external e-mail channel from IO to delivery
  • As the first line of QA, identify and prioritize potential issues and oversee their resolution

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of online marketing experience with at least 3 years in email marketing and 2 years managing triggered and personalized email programs
  • Understanding of email best practices, CAN-SPAM compliance, and data privacy
  • You’ve successfully built, grown, and optimized email marketing programs at a B2C company
  • You’ve solved complex analytical problems using quantitative approaches
  • You have exceptional communication skills that enable you to connect with customers and work effectively across departments
  • Strong attention-to-detail coupled with the understanding of what moves the needle, you are able to distill what is important from what is not
  • You’re intellectually curious—when a number differs from expectation you dive in and get to the bottom of it deciphering if it is an outlier or a trend
  • Creative, self-driven individual who likes to own and optimize programs start to finish
  • Working knowledge of HTML best practices for email
  • Advanced skill with marketing tools such as Mandrill, Google Analytics, Microsoft Excel
  • Project/product management, design, or email template based HTML experience
  • Experience executing and managing external email as a paid customer acquisition channel
  • Experience executing and optimizing internal email publishing opportunities
  • Experience in travel, real estate, retail, flash sales, or e-commerce (preferred)
  • Experience with ExactTarget/ Salesforce Marketing Cloud a plus
