Job Description

Float position for UT Medicine Clinics. Assists patients by providing information, services and assistance in the clinical setting.

Greet patients in a friendly and helpful manner. Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit. Assist with questions or concerns and attempt to resolve patient issues.

Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature, reporting patient history summary. Assist physician or other health care provider as needed. Draw blood, give injections and perform minor exam procedures. Process labs per payor requirements.

Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records. Keeping patient information confidential.

Accurately documents in EMR. Perform telephone triage, manages patient emergencies per policy. Assist nurses and coordinates medication refills.

Maintain exam rooms, clean equipment as needed and assist with maintaining stock level/inventory of supplies. Performs patient dismissals and participates in patient teaching in accordance with physician/nurse guidelines.

This position requires proof of pre-hire immunizations and testing.


Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: High school diploma and graduation from a Medical Assistant program with three years of related experience.

Preferred: Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
