Job Description

The copy editor participates in editing content related to the Narrative team such as work surrounding the main path, world content, character biographies, AI, menu structure, and any other narrative-related content required by the project.

The incumbent works as a part of the Narrative team to ensure coherence, sound structure, and quality as narrative content is integrated into the game.

Responsibilities:

The main and routine tasks of the copy editor are to:

· Understand the intentions of the Narrative Director and help to reflect that vision in the script

· Understand the intentions and nuances inside of an English-language script

· Edit the scripts from multiple writers so that the script is grammatically correct and coherent

· Edit any scripts or pieces of text provided by the Narrative team, ranging from script text to menu/UI text, to AI lines

· Detect and correct errors in spelling, punctuation, and syntax to make sure script is free of errors

· Check that names, places, and organizations are spelled properly and that facts, dates, and statistics are accurate

· Work closely with the Narrative Director to establish editing style guide according to the brand and language needs

· Collaborate closely with the team members who oversee the design of the narrative to ensure polished Narrative content

· Provide feedback and suggestions to Narrative team members to aid them in bettering the Narrative content of the game

· Carry out all other related tasks

Qualifications

Training:

Diploma of College Studies/Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism, Business Writing, or another relevent field

Relevant Experience:

Minimum 1 to 3 years of experience in editing or any other relevant experience

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Basic understanding of game design fundamentals and processes
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Word
  • Ability to collaborate, and respond to feedback/notes in a mature and timely manner
  •  Organizational skills
  • Curiosity, sense of observation
  • Fluent in english (french an asset)
