Doka MEA is currently looking to recruit a Supplier Quality Engineer to join its versatile team in Saudi Arabia. The suitable candidate will be a qualified, natural team player who can add significant value to this highly dynamic team. This role will be based in Jeddah and report directly to the Senior Supplier Quality Manager MEA/EAP.
Job Description
- Establishing Supplier QA and QC processes in alignment with procurement strategy.
- Collaborating with strategic procurement teams to prioritize supplier development by product, improving quality, cost competitiveness, and supply reliability.
- Evaluating new and existing supplier capabilities to ensure they meet product, cost, quality, capacity, and fulfilment requirements, as well as customer and internal system standards.
- Approving products that meet required quality standards.
- Implementing lean methodologies, supplier scorecards, and conduct supplier audits to drive compliance and continuous improvement, resolving issues systematically.
- Monitoring supplier performance indicators, using scorecards and rankings, to enhance the supply base's ability to consistently meet or exceed expectations.
- Fostering positive working relationships with Product Management and Engineering teams, managing supplier/engineering interactions, design changes, capacity studies, and new product introductions.
- Achieving measurable results in supplier yield, field cost, field defect rate, supplier quality plan engagement, and corrective & preventative action closure.
- Offering consultancy to enhance quality and manufacturing processes cost-effectively, reduce waste, introduce new products, and improve product design.
- Providing technical expertise and leadership in sourcing and developing suppliers concerning technology, performance, quality, cost, logistics, and delivery.
- Leading investigations into major problems and special projects, building strong working relationships with suppliers and the supply chain in product development and parts procurement.
- Supporting new product launches by ensuring key milestones are met in collaboration with suppliers.
- Identify the area for quality improvements and recommend the process simplification.
- Defining process parameters and criteria in partnership with engineering to ensure supplier process capability meets product and process requirements.
Qualifications
- Degree in Manufacturing or Engineering or equivalent education
- Minimum five years of experience in a similar role dealing with quality systems, customers and suppliers management, supplier development and audits
- Strong knowledge in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA)
- Knowledge in manufacturing processes/standards, material standards/grades, certifications, testing standards, and welding standards and processes.
- Preferably good knowledge of structural/steel metal fabrication processes
- Good understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings
- Statistical analytical skills and technical proficiency for quality processes
- Excellent proficiency in English
- Strong communication skills with concise and clarity to multiple stakeholder e.g. internal stakeholders, customers and suppliers
- Problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects while adhering to strict deadlines and budgets
- Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment
- Willingness to travel and be mobile
