Job Description

We have a Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator Position available in Albany, NY.  

**All Candidates Must be US Resident alien (Green Card/EAD/TN) or USCitizen.**

Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure and maintain SQL Server Databases in all environments from development through production following best practices.
  • Ensure appropriate recovery models and backups are in place to meet our clients’ recovery time objectives.
  • Test backups and restores to ensure recovery time objectives can be met.
  • Troubleshoot SQL Server outages as they occur including after hours and weekends.
  • Analyze performance issues and determine the best option for remediating issues as they arise.
  • Create and maintain indexes and statistics to improve performance.
  • Ensure proper database security is in place for all environments.
  • Plan for future state with regards to new functionality, disc space, memory, compatibility, etc.
  • Maintain a high level of service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
  • Create and maintain an enterprise data dictionary.
  • Work with key stakeholders on a disaster recovery plan by determining and implementing an appropriate solution for database fail-over to DR site.
  • Assist with creating, modifying and maintaining enterprise reports.
  • Work with Developers and System Administrators to understand and automate routine tasks.
  • Create and maintain jobs to refresh environments on a regular schedule or ad-hoc basis.
  • Identify ways to improve the process to prevent future occurrences of similar defects.
  • Configure SQL Server monitoring utilities to minimize false alarms, and actively prevent outages from occurring.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, and participating in professional societies
  • Manage multiple assignments concurrently; meet established deadlines.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

Mandatory Qualifications:

Note: Candidates who do not have the mandatory skills will not be considered

• 5-7 years’ relevant work experience as a DBA 
• Certificates from recognized programs that indicate mastery of tools and techniques relevant to the assignment may substitute for up to six months of experience.
• A strong technical knowledge of enterprise database systems (Microsoft SQL Server 2012 preferred).
• A strong technical knowledge of NetApp (or other SAN) storage.
• A strong technical knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2008+, Active Directory, Windows networking.
• Experience in Windows and Database Automation.
• Must provide a copy of your university diploma(s) and all professional certifications listed on your resume. The university(s) diploma(s) must show the name of the university and location, (city/state/country/etc.). Both, the diploma(s) and certificate(s) must also show dates of completion or graduation. **Applications missing copies of diplomas and certificates will not be considered**
