SQL Server Developer - Full time, salary position

Location: San Francisco, CA

Key Responsibilities

• Ability to work in agile, collaborative team environment

• Provide technical support of financial production applications and database systems.

Work off hours to provide support to software applications or system maintenance.

• Monitor database application systems for performance, system errors, and system vitals

and troubleshoot any issues

• Deploy SQL code and Application updates from development to production

environments as needed

• Build ETL processes and reports as needed

• Migrate, consolidate, and update batch processes and SQL procedures

• Analyze, document, and re-engineer outdated batch scripts and processes into

streamlined, highly effective, well documented and supportable job processes

• Design and implement data management solutions

o Relational database design and development (OLTP databases)

o Analytical and reporting database design and implementation (OLAP/Memory

resident/NoSQL)

Qualifications & Required Skills

• Experience in monitoring and troubleshooting complex application integrations and

database environments

• Excellent ability to quickly distinguish between database and application support issues

and learn systems/processes by reading the code

• Excellent ability working with application vendors to help troubleshoot and resolve any

production issues

• Writing TSQL scripts and stored procedures for production jobs

• Experience with SSIS for creating ETL packages

• Solid acquaintance with Windows Server 2003/2008, Security Delegation, SPNs, storage

components Creating SQL Agent jobs and effective use of Powershell/batch scripting as

needed in SQL Server jobs• Installing and configuring any version of SQL Server on development and production

servers

• Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to perform in all of the basic database

management skills of database administration, physical structure, overall architecture,

and database analysis

• Provide recommendations for standardization and consistency across environments

• Ensure a stable and secure database and application environment

• Implement and monitor database functionality to ensure stable environments

• Uphold enterprise policy guidelines and recommend new/improved guidelines

• Partner with project teams and interact with customers to find solutions for projects

and operational issues for existing and proposed databases

• Demonstrated ability to define and follow best practices and business processes

• Exceptional customer-service orientation. Work well in diverse multicultural

environment

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

• Interest in pursuing deep financial application and database expertise

• Experience with Charles River or another OMS Trading Platform, Microsoft Solomon or

Great Plains, Advent Axys or Geneva, Concur, Datawatch Monarch, Factset, Bloomberg,

Eagle.

Experience & Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

• A minimum of 5 years of combination application and database administration

experience in a production environment

• 3-5 years managing MS SQL RDBMS, Reporting Services and other SQL Server related

services from a Production Support level

• 3-5 years using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and

troubleshooting tools

• 3+ Years of solid understanding of performance tuning, and database system

optimizations

• Strong technical knowledge of SQL, Powershell, batch scripting

• Must be well versed in basic web technologies and database reporting for production

support

• Microsoft certified
