Job Description

The Village Voice is seeking a highly motivated individual interested in pursuing a career in marketing, events, and social media to assist the marketing department on a part-time basis each semester. You must be eligible to receive academic credit!

This is an opportunity to gain valuable experience in the design and execution of promotional, marketing and social media campaigns for the Village Voice in addition to event planning and production. 

Individuals chosen for this internship will gain hands-on experience in social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, Instagram etc.), special event production, sponsorship sales, street team marketing and promotional campaigns. The Village Voice produces large events throughout the year including a food tasting event (Choice Eats), a food truck tasting event (Choice Streets), al theater awards event (Obie Awards), an outdoor music festival (4Knots), a craft beer festival (Brooklyn Pour) and a cocktail event (Holiday Spirits) in addition to partnering on many more. 

Qualifications

Responsibilities will include the following:
Fulfill giveaways and contests
Assist with social media efforts on Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, and Instagram
Assist with street team promotions and marketing campaigns
Update email database from street team efforts
Research leads for potential sponsors and partners of special events 
Assist in production logistics of special events 
•       Assist with smooth execution of event sponsorships and summaries
Manage inventory of promotional swag items 
Research applicable marketing and event partnerships  
Archive marketing and event materials 
Active interest in social media, marketing, events, and promotions preferred with strong communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office required. A passion for music, film, arts, and New York City culture is encouraged and welcomed. Please feel free to share these particular interests in your cover letter!

Additional Information

This position is unpaid and applicant must receive college credit for this internship. Applicants must preferably be available for a full semester (Fall, Spring, or Summer).
