News Blogger

Company Description

Becoming part of the Village Voice team is a chance to join world class talent - individuals who produce professional content, design & develop innovative products, and deliver exceptional results for our advertisers, users, and partners.

Job Description

The Village Voice has an immediate opening for the lead blogger and editor of its news blog, Runnin' Scared. We're looking for a New York-based, deadline-capable journalist who has a thorough understanding of the NYC landscape.

We need an agile, indigenous Web animal who can report and riff off of the day's stories— and more than occasionally produce something that becomes one of those stories. We are not after bulk or news-wire style copy; we want insight, voice, humor and sophistication. And while you would be the architect of your own work—four to six original posts daily, each containing a bright idea of your own as well as, dare we ask, a bit of original reporting—you would also be the mixmaster for input from our staff and other contributors to the blog.

Additional Information

As the nation's first and largest alternative newsweekly, The Village Voice is the authoritative source on all that New York City has to offer. For over 55 years, the Voice has produced hard-hitting investigative reporting with opinionated arts, culture, music, film, theater and food reviews.

Please send your resume and a brief cover letter with your top 5 favorite places to go in New York City. Must be 21+ and legally qualified to work in the United States. Previous experience in  promotional marketing is preferred but not required.

NO PHONE CALLS PLEASE.
