Job Description

The Village Voice is seeking a Field Marketing & Promotions Manager who is highly creative, ambitious and results-driven to manage marketing efforts for multiple campaigns for The Village Voice, our clients and sponsors. In this role, the candidate will play a key part in the growth of marketing and events department and will work closely with the marketing team as a multi-functioning department focusing on city-wide marketing and branding activation, web & print marketing, digital promotions and management of various social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, Instagram and more).


The position is responsible for management and execution of The Village Voice Street Team, which is comprised of 30+ members. This position will research, identify, partner with and schedule events for the street team to attend and activate at. This position will also solely manage various field marketing and promotion programs for brands, sponsors and clients throughout New York City. 


In addition, the Field Marketing & Promotions Manager will actively utilize multiple digital platforms to create cohesive promotional campaigns to effectively engage with our digital audience and effectively grow subscribers to Village Voice email newsletters, apps, and more. This position will manage and develop all contesting and promotional efforts. 


The position will assist with all Village Voice signature events, including Choice Eats Tasting Event, Choice Streets Food Truck Event, 4Knots Music Festival, Brooklyn Pour Craft Beer Festival and more. The Field Marketing & Promotions Manager’s role is to recruit and manage a volunteer program for the events, manage all event street marketing staff, support pre-production and on-site event production efforts in addition to managing a sustained social media promotional campaign.


The ideal candidate should be a proactive self-starter who can work autonomously but also within a team, with previous field marketing management, promotions & social media and management experience. The proven ability to lead, motivate and manage large groups is preferred. The candidate should be active and engaged in the New York City event landscape and have a passion for arts & cultural events.

Field Marketing & Promotions Manager Responsibilities include:

- Manage Field Marketing and Sponsorship activation management including street team promotions and product sampling

- Develop and manage an annual street team event calendar

- Social Media Marketing management across multiple platforms

- Identify new field marketing opportunities and manage all production logistics

- Evaluate effectiveness of field marketing and digital efforts and make necessary adjustments to reach monthly goals

- Train street team members and volunteers on best practices and new programs

- Strategize and execute promotional enter to win contests and develop metrics to evaluate success

- Manage field marketing team and promotional budgets

- Sponsorship & advertising sales support

- Management of the marketing and events department internship program

- Village Voice event marketing, organization and execution assistance


Qualifications

Requirements:

- 4 year degree

- Field Marketing & Street Team activation

- 2+ years managing/supervising staff experience

- 1-2 years of social media management experience across multiple platforms

- Marketing and promotions background

- Strong written and oral communication skills

- Attention to detail and strong editing/proofreading skills 

- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships and foster new partnerships 

- Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize workload efficiently

- Proactive work ethic

- Ability to work on multiple projects in a deadline-oriented environment 

- Desire to work on large scale event production
