Job Description

This role is an individual contributor responsible for applying skills and knowledge to perform specified support functions. You, as our Staff Systems Engineer, will have required experience to be involved with Visa's High Availability Tier 0 systems. Primary duties will be to provide operational support for Data Protection Technologies, to plan, execute and run Data protection technologies server/client implementations and to ensure all security, quality and compliance requirements are met. Tasks include monitoring and addressing production issues related to data protection tools. You will train staff and users and promote data security awareness to ensure system security. You will triage issues working with vendor, development and engineering resources. You will respond to BMC Remedy/ticketing system tickets.

 
Please note that support requires on-call on a rotating basis which includes weekends during the U.S. day.
 

Qualifications

Key requirements:

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering/ Computer Science/ Computer Information Systems or related field
  • Have 4-6 years of overall experience in the following technologies with at least 1-2 years experience in Security technologies

OS/Platform level:

  • Linux/Windows OS expertise
  • Kernel expertise
  • Kernel Crash research experience
  • Various File systems knowledge NFS, SAN etc.
  • RHEL packaging, RPMS and how they relate to Kernel, distributions, patching, major/minor versions
  • The location on network utilities and start/stop are different across Linux distros, so this is a skill to have
  • Knowledge of HP Non-Stop (tandem)
  • Knowledge of MVS
  • Knowledge of z/TPF

Application level:

  • CLI & Web Interface management
  • Basic API integration & Debug skills with C/C++ & .NET
  • Web services
  • Java knowledge
  • Software Development lifecycle

Preferred qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of data security standards - FFIEC, PCI-DSS
  • Crypto background – encryption, hashing, etc.
  • Technologies/vendors in play: Safenet, Vormetric, Voltage, Thales, Cloudera Key Trustee
  • Certificate management
  • PKI and PKCS standards
