Job Description
The Director – Innovation will engage with various stakeholders within and outside of Visa to
develop new capabilities/user experiences on Visa platform. Within specific
areas of focus, they will drive the vision, partner outreach and engagement and
subsequent co-creation. They will lead design and development of proof of
concept using human-centric design principles and rapid prototyping. He/she will
interact with executives and others in client and partner organizations to
brainstorm co-creation ideas and rapidly prototype working proof of concepts.
He/she will then evangelize the proof of concept within and outside of Visa, and
work closely with product teams in Visa to drive pilot/commercialization.
He/she will bring prior experience in hands-on development of solutions, UI and prototypes,
and a close knowledge of developments in technology (mobile, cloud, APIs, etc.)
and commerce (omni-channel, digital payments, etc.). He/she is creative and
hands-on, developing working prototypes where necessary and leading other
solution developers where available. The ideal candidate will demonstrate depth
of thinking and experiences across card issuing, merchant payment solutions, new
payments capabilities (tokens, mobile). He/she is passionate about payments and
has meaningful understanding of developments in the areas of IoT, blockchain,
AR/VR, data, etc.
Responsibilities
Innovation development and co-creation
- Brainstorm with internal and external teams to develop
ideas and potential solutions for co-creation or for development of proofs of
concept
- Rapidly convert ideas into working prototypes, mashing
together solutions/capabilities that exist within Visa or externally. Direct a
team of dedicated UI/UX and development resources to build a working proof of
concept - Ensure feasibility of prototypes by mapping components
to actual existing capabilities/assets (internal and external) - Work closely with the Engagement Manager and/or Program
Manager to scope plan, critical path and risks, and with teams of
clients/partners to understand their deployment environment - Where in-field pilots are feasible, work with
clients/partners and internal product and development teams to drive development
and deployment - Drive coordination with core product teams to enable
commercialization
Innovation practice
- Provide thought leadership in payments and related
aspects, in order to develop a vision for specific areas of innovation, identify
key innovation opportunities for Visa, and identify potential partners
- Lead the development of intellectual capital in a key
area of payments - Evangelize innovations within and outside Visa, in order
to pave way for commercialization/ product roll out. As appropriate, host
discussions/events to drive discussion with internal and external partners
Qualifications
- At least 8 years of relevant experience in product
management (at payment network, bank, merchant or fintech) or technology
consulting, focused on payments and/or commerce - Experience in client facing engagements, preferably in
leading them - Knowledge in mobile application development, web-based
systems architecture, service-based architecture, enterprise application
architecture - Experience and knowledge of Agile (Scrum) project
methodology and practices - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or MIS, or
equivalent experience
