Job Description

Visa Corporate IT group has embarked on a major transformation journey. We will not follow the “traditional” IT playbook of simply purchasing off the shelf solutions and stitching them together. We are transforming ourselves into a true engineering organization where we put customer experience first, create highly leveraged (and loved) platforms with a heavy emphasis on operational excellence such as ensuring our platforms and services are unbreakable. Where we choose to continue with packaged software we will invent our way around their limitations such as poor UI or scale.

The Revenue and Pricing Systems (RPS) team owns the technology that prices, bills and collects revenue from Visa’s clients on a global basis. While we leverage packaged products such as Oracle ORMB we are looking for a builder (software engineering skill set) and an inventor not an integrator. The team is working on a major re-platforming effort aimed at increasing scale, enabling self-service and increasing the velocity of innovation. Reporting to the VP, Revenue and Pricing Systems this position will oversee the end to end architecture of the end state RPS platform. S/He will work with various executives across the enterprise to coordinate RPS solutions to meet challenges of technology, regulatory, security, and competitive conditions.

As a Chief Systems Architect for the RPS platform, you will strategize, define, develop and manage architecture strategy and solution for one of more platform components that support the Revenue and Pricing products. You will identify and prioritize the key capabilities the platform needs, act as a product owner in defining the technical specifications, create solution approaches and build technical roadmaps in achieving the platform goals. You will act as a technical expert and leader providing guidance and support to solution architects and other platform architects across the Corporate IT group. This role requires an acute sense of attention to detail and a flexible, team-player approach. Superior organization, written communication and verbal communication skills are required.

  • Experience in building high-volume consumer facing systems and/or Payments, ecommerce systems is a strong plus.
  • Must have prior global experience in architecting and/or developing engineering platforms for engineering teams with the goals of improving system scalability and engineering productivity, preferably in the financial applications domain
  • Experience with technology and business transformation
  • Minimum of twelve years of experience in systems and solution design, architecture, and development.
  • Must have working experience in high volume and large scale distributed systems.
  • Must have hands-on experience defining application and system architecture. Knowledge of UML is required.
