Job Description

The global systems engineering group is responsible for engineering and support of the IT infrastructure for Visa Inc. and VisaNet. This includes planning, design, evaluation, installation, deployment, and maintenance of the IT infrastructure for the data centers and office facilities.

Job Scope

This is an individual contributor role responsible for solving complex problems and taking a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions. This role serves as a technical/functional specialist and works independently with guidance only in the most complex situations.

Responsibilities

- Responsible for the design and implementation of server infrastructure based on business requirements and adhering to tight operations, security, and procedural models
- Ability to operate in complex, highly-secure, and highly-available, operations environments and interact with the technology domain experts required to maintain those environments
- This position requires a candidate with strong hands on technical engineering professional with business acumen
- Responsible for mentoring junior team members, developing ITIL procedures and best practices standards
- Work with other Engineering Disciplines to develop Infrastructure Building Blocks based Reference Architectures and standards that can be offered as services to our customers
- This position requires design as well implementation experience with custom and off-the-shelf application, and help coordinate activities of multiple technology domains in terms of design and deployment.
- This position requires a dynamic, hard-working and ambitious individual, with excellent oral and written communication skills
- Candidates will possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills and have experience working in large enterprise operational environments

Qualifications


Technical Requirements

- Possessing expert knowledge in Windows OS, hardware, software, and applications deployments
- Experience deploying and maintaining highly-available and highly-secure Windows based servers and applications in a highly-available and highly-secure data center environment
- Extensive HP, Dell and Cisco UCS hardware and OS deployment experience
- Hands-on Citrix experience (i.e support, installation and architecture)
- MCSE certification or equivalent work experience
- In-depth experience with enterprise class virtualization technologies –x86 Vmware (i.e. support, installation, and architecture)
- Scripting toolset experience and understanding
- This position will also be required to help coordinate the activities of multiple technology domains in terms of design and deployment
- Strong process orientation and a solid understanding of software development and testing techniques, methodologies and best practices are the primary requisite for this position
- Automation and scripting experience preferred
- Strong technical analytical and troubleshooting skills, and possess an ability to explain technical concepts and provide guidance to junior staff
- Must have experience in system monitoring techniques and tools supporting unattended operations
- Knowledgeable in server end SAN/NAS configuration and troubleshooting
- Knowledgeable in TCPIP networking – NIC teaming, switches, routing and load-balancing
- Ability to write technical design and build documentations for all aspects of a technical infrastructure
- Ability to integrate content from other domain areas and construct final technical design documents
- Ability to provide level 3 support and guide level 2 administrators on problem resolution. Exhibit understanding and perform operational acceptance/turnover activities.
- Must be willing to go on 24x7 "On-call" support rotation

Professional Requirements

- Bachelors/Degree or equivalent experience; Typically requires a minimum of 7-10 years of relevant working experience
- Broad knowledge in hardware, software, network and applications deployments
- Experience in an application hosting or data center environment
- Experience with maintaining highly available and highly secure systems
- Strong process orientation and a solid understanding of software development and testing techniques, methodologies and best practices are the primary requisite for this position
- Individual should be extremely self-motivated with the ability to work independently, coordinating activities within cross-regional and cross-functional teams
- Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and leadership skills along with effective communication (both written and verbal) skills
- Exhibit advanced planning, organizational and problem solving skills
- Strong project management skills
- ITIL certification preferred
