Job Description

We are currently seeking a Staff Systems Engineer within the Technology Governance and ITDR. The Staff System Engineer will work to advance the development and execution of the Technology Governance and Disaster Recovery Programs within VISA INC. In this position the Staff Systems Engineering will be expected to lead application development efforts for proprietary applications used in managing ITDR and Technology Governance processes.  Important as well is for the candidate to lead efforts to assess new standards for the design and technical implementation of disaster recovery capabilities for applications and infrastructure across core Visa platforms and coordinate the execution of standard disaster recovery processes (Assessment/Test Exercises).   The Staff Systems Engineering  will play a lead role on the VISA INC.’s Disaster Recovery (DR) and Technology Governance team and will work with application, systems and business teams to identify risks in technology platforms to create viable recovery solutions and mitigation plans.

Qualifications

Responsibilities:

•Lead development efforts in the design, implementation, testing, and life cycle management of ITDR and Technology Governance Systems

*Work with all the Business units within VISA to define critical, time-sensitive functions along with the associated recovery time objectives and recovery point objectives.

•Provide Technical oversight for ITDR and Technology Governance  programs across key Visa platforms. Define DR/Resiliency program scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders
•Validate existing application and system architectures to ensure expected DR and Technology Governance objectives and measures are being achieved and contribute to the formation of new architectures supporting resiliency engineering best practices
•Work with different departments within VISA to understand business processes and uncover potential risks for recoverability
•Use Service Impact Assessments (SIA) to develop scenarios to re-establish operations from various types of technical disruptions.
•Lead and ensure the validity of annual recovery planning and exercise activities to ensure VISA is prepared to keep or bring systems online during a DR/BCP event.
•Develop and deliver an appropriate Awareness Program to be used enterprise-wide for the purposes of educating VISA stakeholders on the importance of a comprehensive DR program.
•Create KPIs and dashboards to report the success in implementing ITDR technology architecture standards.


Requirements to be considered for this position:

*Master’s Degree in Computer Science preferred. 

•5+ years’ experience in an application development or engineering discipline working in a high availability (99.99%+) and high volume environment.
•2-3 years of experience with Ruby on Rails, Java, Git, Stash, REST & SOAP Services, & MySQL
•2-3 years of experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Ajax, jQuery, UI frameworks, Bootstrap & Angular JS
•3 + years’ experience in leading resiliency engineering best practices
•Excellent verbal/written communication; especially executive level presentations
•Good understanding of Application/System architectures to implement solutions to maximize data availability
•Excellent program/project management skills
•Capable of developing strong and cooperative inter-departmental partnerships for joint actions
•Experience with creating, presenting, and deploying enterprise business disaster recovery and contingency plans
•Ability to assess business and financial impacts for critical business and technology functions and identify

*Experience with Agile/SCRUM development
