The DMPD Data Engineering and Analytics team has many exciting opportunities in the field of Software Engineering. How would you like to build some of the tools that are critical to moving & transforming data-driven insights into valuable information at Visa? You are a data geek and proud of it! If so, this is the right job for you. We are looking for a candidate with a Software Engineering background who is passionate about Data. As part of the DMPD Data Engineering and Analytics team you will be responsible in not only building data pipelines to efficiently and reliably move data across systems, but also build the next generation of data tools enabling the company to take full advantage of the data. In this role, your work will broadly influence the company's data consumers, analysts and next-gen product decisions.
 

As a Senior Data Operations Engineer of DMPD Data Engineering and Analytics team it is expected that you have high attention to detail and quality. You are a team player with knowledge of structured problem-solving assignments. 
 

Responsibilities:

• Build data expertise and own data quality for the awesome pipelines you build
• Excellent experience and ability to work with technical and business partners to gather requirements for analytics and reporting
• Implement Reporting Services, Dynamic Dashboards, Report Development and Visualization
• Use your expert coding skills across a number of languages from Python, Shell and Java
• Develop/support applications within the Hadoop Stack
• Work across multiple teams in high visibility roles and own the solution end-to-end
• Self-Motivated, ability to troubleshoot issues with minimal supervision

• 5+ years relevant work experience in software development particularly in the area around data
• Good knowledge of SQL
• Good Unix/Bash scripting knowledge
• Ability to write well-abstracted, reusable code components
• Basic understanding of reporting tools such as Tableau and Microstrategy or similar tools
• Basic understanding and knowledge of Dimensional data modeling, Data Warehouse and Reporting techniques
• Good working knowledge in Java is a plus
• Good understanding of Java and/or Python/Shell development is a plus
• Good understanding in custom or structured ETL design, implementation and maintenance is a plus
• Excellent communication skills including the ability to identify and communicate data driven insights
• Experience with Agile Development
• BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
