Job Description

The Senior Director of Global Product Brand Management is responsible for global management of the Visa brand and governance on Visa branded payment products. This position is responsible for developing the Visa brand portfolio strategy and related naming strategy and brand application framework. This role also provides consulting and strategic guidance to internal and external clients related to the design of payment product programs at Visa. This individual leads the team that is responsible for the development, management and approval of Product Brand Standards which are the standards, guidelines and tools that regulate the design of payment products, security features and usage of Visa owned marks. This position is also responsible for global consistency of the review process and criteria for teams in reviewing issued cards.

Global Brand Management
This group works closely with Global Brand Strategy and Brand Design to implement standards and guidelines for the treatment of the Visa brand in all manifestations. They serve as a consultant to internal and external clients on questions related to the use of the Visa Brand Mark visually and strategically. Another role of this team is to develop the Visa Brand Portfolio Strategy which provides a decision making tools to help guide the branding of new products, line extensions as well as those acquired through merger and acquisition activity. The team also develops the naming strategy and process to assist with product, service and other naming needs throughout the organization and any resulting visualization of those names on payment products and in communications.

Global Product Brand Standards
The role of this team is to lead brand-driven project work as it relates to payment device design, including standards creation, tool development, process efficiencies and communication plans related to those standards. Specifically this group maintains the global payment device standards "Product Brand Standards" for Visa Inc. and Visa Europe and the collaborative interaction framework (operating agreement between Visa Inc. and Visa Europe).

This team represents Global Marketing in the review of new product/program pilot proposal which includes Product Risk Assessments and Operating Regulation proposals. The position is responsible for driving the globalization of standards/guidelines projects with Visa regional brand management and card design teams, as well as consulting with these teams on in-market product business needs. This individual also has responsibility for agency management and global collaboration related to the online global brand management tools, including the Visa Product Brand Standards website and the Global Brand Review workflow, tracking and reporting tool.

Program Reviews and Consulting
The team also engages in global platform consulting, providing Brand input for emerging categories, e.g. Mobile, and categories on the path to maturity, e.g. Prepaid. The group coordinates in-market, region specific learning, translating these to relevant and globally aligned product brand standards. The team provides consulting on new product development with a brand and standards lens, in support of business decision making that is aligned to the Visa brand and corporate strategy as well as business growth opportunities.

Strategic Nature, Management Accountability and Scope
The leader of Global Product Brand Management will ensure the alignment of Visa's global brand strategy with corporate business goals and priorities. It is envisioned that this individual will champion the re-invention of the approach to payment device design and product brand standards driving for innovation, flexibility and agility. To do this, it will be necessary for this person to build strong and effective cross-functional working relationships across the global Visa organization. The role requires the ability to lead but also to influence.

The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of the payments industry and brand management. The person must exhibit the ability to be an agent for change by understanding how to balance the needs of the organization to provide appropriate guidance and direction on the management of the brand and payment device design, while ensuring an innovative approach that is flexible, agile and actionable.

Reporting Relationship and Interactions
The leader of Global Product Brand Management will be one of several direct reports into the VP Global Brand & Core Product Marketing who in turn reports into the Cheif Brand and Innovation Marketing officer. The position will lead two teams comprised of business leaders and managers.

This person will also interact with external stakeholders such as financial institutions, co-brand and affinity partners as well as Visa vendors and agencies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required/MBA preferred
  • Seasoned, results-oriented executive with 15+ years progressively responsible business experience
  • Experience in payments industry strongly desired
  • Management consulting with payment industry and/or marketing experience is a strong plus
  • Marketing and/or brand management experience required
  • Proven ability to manage work in highly matrixed organizations with multiple stakeholders
  • An accomplished manager responsible for high performing staff
  • Experience working in a global capacity and/or markets outside of the US
  • Highly skilled at synthesizing complex information from a wide variety of sources or disciplines to arrive at a broader, deeper and well-integrated understanding of the issues and strategic impact
  • Demonstrated track record of leading large scale projects and implementing significant change in an organization
  • Strong executive presence with highly effective written and verbal communication skills including the ability to present with impact
  • Impressive teamwork and relationship-building skills, and leads by influence and example
  • Strong planning, organizational and problem solving skills
  • Proficient on all Microsoft products including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Advanced level PowerPoint required
  • Familiarization with Design Software e.g. Illustrator and Photoshop; Strong design aesthetic required
