Job Description

As part of the Global Research & Insights team, the Senior Director – Client Insights will be responsible for cultivating and maintaining consultative-based relationships with senior leaders across designated business lines. You will lead development of the annual learning agenda for these businesses and identify consumer attitudes, needs, behaviors and emerging consumer trends that provide insights to drive business results and strengthen relationships with key external clients. The successful candidate must be a self-starter, curious and creative in their thinking; have an expert level of knowledge of market research, analysis and insight generation. In this role, you will:

Lead the development of consumer insights that shape and inform Visa's partnerships with financial institutions and merchants
Provide value to financial institutions and merchants and enhance Visa's sales efforts
Act as a research expert and thought leader on Visa's research knowledge base
Shape the research agendas for client organizations, recommend research design, ensure vendors deliver with excellence, and infuse analysis, synthesis, and actionable recommendations in your work
Lead a team of two and may also be called upon to advise and develop junior researchers
Present insights POVs on the Voice of the Consumer to internal audiences and externally to senior leaders at key financial institutions and merchants throughout the US.

Partner with senior sales and consulting partners to develop a research agenda that enhances partnerships with clients and informs business decisions while prioritizing efforts vs. available resources
Demonstrate exemplary research expertise and innovation, including recommending alternative data sources and methods where appropriate
Advise sales and consulting partners on design, cost, and timing tradeoffs to thoughtfully balance depth and efficacy
Negotiate with and manage vendors to ensure high-quality, timely and cost-efficient deliverables
Lead the research process, particularly in understanding objectives, formulating relevant design, developing questionnaires and analytic plans, synthesizing findings, driving to actionable recommendations and delivering compelling presentations to senior management
Act as the thought leader for the sales and consulting areas, bringing to bear third party industry and internal knowledge across studies on key business issues/topics
Disseminate case studies on how research learnings are being applied to the business
Build a culture of curiosity, innovation and thoughtful risk-taking

Qualifications

15 - 20 years of experience managing custom market research projects (prefer blend of client and vendor side experience)
People management experience strongly preferred
Excellent qualitative and quantitative research skills
Deep expertise with application of a broad range of research techniques and methodologies required, including ideation, concept testing, ethnographic research, segmentation and persona development, maxDiff and conjoint, and key driver analysis
Experience managing multi-country global research projects
Demonstrated success using research to drive insights and strategic implications that lead to business decisions
Ability to transition easily from a technical research perspective to practical business considerations
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and outstanding presentation skills, including experience presenting to and influencing executives; Must be fluent in English
Curious, collaborative, and dynamic
Position will require travel (approximately 30% - 40%; primarily domestic)
Bachelor's degree required; Graduate degree in marketing, market research, psychology, sociology, anthropology, or related field preferred
