Job Description

For thirty years Visa has been a passionate partner of the Olympic Games, supporting athletes to achieve their dreams on the field of play as they inspire next generations to reach for theirs. As you look to enter into the next chapter of your life, Visa’s Olympian and Paralympian in Business Development Program (OPBDP) will empower you to hone your talent, potential, and unique leadership skill set in a business setting. 

The Olympian and Paralympian in Business Development Program (OPBDP) leverages our partnership with the International Olympic Committee to build a strong entry level pipeline of talent with cross-functional knowledge and experience. The OPBDP is a 12-month program with two six-month rotations through Visa’s functions including but not limited to: Digital Solutions, Marketing & Communications, Product, and Merchant Sales & Solutions. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to continue with the program for an additional year. In addition to meaningful work experience, athletes are given training and development, mentoring, networking, and leadership exposure.

Sample Rotation Assignments Include:

Digital

Visa’s Digital Teams are team responsible for devising and implementing effective strategies to deliver Visa Digital Solutions (VDS) to issuers, processors, and consumers. They also oversee the user experience and design of products such as Visa Checkout, Visa Token Service, mVisa, Visa Developer’s Center, and numerous proof-of-concept projects and storytelling communications in these business domains. Responsibilities could include:

  • Gather, analyze, and present competitiveintelligence information regarding digitalpayment services to the team and other relevantstakeholders
  • Support Rollout of mobile proximity payments to new countries
  • Explore payment possibilities for automobiles and wearables and experiment with new digital card art

Marketing & Communications

Visa’s Global Marketing & Communications Team conducts market research and analytics on consumers and clients to develop best-in-class marketing plans that accelerate Visa product adoption and growth. Additionally, this team is dedicated to increasing Visa brand equity through building trust with clients and investors and communicating corporate themes like Financial Inclusion and Corporate Social Responsibility, among other strategies. Responsibilities could include:

  • Support development and execution of Visa andOlympic co-branded campaigns with keymerchant partners- creative deliverables rangefrom film and media integrations to digital,social, and PR
  • Coordinate social and legal monitoring for allsocial creative assets and Visa owned channels
  • Client asset tracking of Olympic, NFL, and FIFA Assets as well as writing event promotions and communications

Merchant Sales & Solutions

Visa’s Global Merchant Sales & Solutions organization strives to be a trusted, strategic partner for the merchant community, delivering tangible value to increase revenue, increase efficiencies and grow business intelligence. The team is staffed to align with customers and business opportunities around the world. Responsibilities could include:

  • Asses the opportunities and threats created bynew entrants such as coalition programs and new payment alternatives
  • Identify opportunities for Visa to develop newsolutions/partner with external parties
  • Review innovation landscape of service providers for merchants – payments and beyond, e.g.,acquirers, publishers, data/analytics players,start-ups

Product

Visa’s Global Product Team is responsible for all aspects of product strategy and development in consumer and business products that drive revenue growth for Visa. The team develops new channel solutions and technology support, builds alliances and solutions for new products, and is responsible for product analytics. Products include Visa Checkout, Visa Signature, Verified by Visa, and others. Responsibilities could include:

  • Supporting the design and delivery of analyticprojects and solutions for Issuer and Merchantclients (i.e., supporting the development of Exceland PowerPoint outputs including articulation ofkey insights for clients, actionablerecommendations and value)
  • Performing exploratory analysis and data miningon large datasets based on business hypotheses
  • Help define projects to answer businessquestions, and build the “story board” for thefinal output of analytic projects, appropriate to the target audience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • All majors welcome to apply
  • Competed at an Olympic or Paralympic Games within the last 4 years (London 2012, Sochi 2014 or Rio 2016)
  • Excellent analytical abilities
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Currently open to athletes eligible to work in the US only. Except in exceptional circumstances, athlete candidates who will require sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future will not be considered for this position.
