Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Solarwinds - Plan, design, implement, and provide ongoing support of network systems of high complexity in datacenter, backbone, and corporate environments to fulfill business needs for performance and cost benefits

  • Serve as a technical lead for hardware installation, configuration, and operational support of these networks� routers, switches, load balancers, WAN optimizers, etc.

  • Serve as a technical lead for routing and switching technology, working with application and systems teams to optimize application delivery on the network

  • Provide 3rd level technical support to Visa clients and to technical teams within Visa to resolve network issues and to support the implementation of new network solutions

  • Evaluate new technology, including SDN, and bring opportunities forward that would improve the future network architecture, performance, and network services

  • Ensure full compliance of Visa Key Controls and Technical Service Requirements for all network architecture, designs, and implementations both past and present

  • Ensure all changes go through appropriate review, change control, and acceptance before implementation

  • Lead development, testing, and QA functions to ensure that projects are securely delivered and fulfill expectations

  • Build and maintain relationships with global and virtual teams and third parties on network development or support issues

  • Provide highest level of technical consultancy to ensure problem resolution is achieved in the shortest possible timeframe

  • Work with the Information Security Office to ensure solutions deployed meet Visa Security Requirements and provide technical assistance for investigation and analysis of security alerts

  • Development of processes and procedures for use by the Network team and third parties in the management of network environments

  • Develop and position solutions and build plans to effectively gain buy-in from all participants

  • Develop and streamline processes to further improve delivery of Global Network and Telecommunication services

  • Provide recommendations to management team to increase effectiveness of organization and technology solutions

    • Qualifications

  • At least 5 years related experience in infrastructure/network environments and designing, planning, documenting and implementing LANs and WANs using latest technology
  • At least 3 years of experience in a Sr. Network Engineering role
  • CCIE certification or a Bachelor's degree preferably in Engineering is preferred
  • Expertise on IP Technologies and extensive knowledge of WAN technologies such as MPLS, ATM, and Frame Relay, as well as datacenter technologies such as virtualization
  • Expert engineering knowledge of network hardware, specifically Cisco routers and switches, with a strong focus on data center technology such as Cisco Nexus and campus technology such as Cisco InstantAccess
  • Extensive experience and expertise on IP routing protocols such as EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP
  • Expert engineering knowledge of load balancing / traffic management technology including F5 Big-IP/Viprion for LTM/GTM
  • Expert engineering knowledge of WAN optimization technology, including Riverbed Steelhead, to optimize application traffic across the WAN links
  • Knowledge of Cisco encryption technologies (IPSec, SSL), and hot standby protocols HSRP and VRRP
  • Advanced understanding of TCP/IP network protocols, including common application protocols
  • Experience in high-availability networks in load-balanced, n-tier application environments
  • Experience with Cisco wireless technology
  • CCIE, CCNA, or CCNP Routing and Switching certification preferred
  • ITIL certification preferred
  • Self-sufficient with the ability to make engineering decisions within the documented configuration requirements and control processes
  • This position will need to be able to communicate and work effectively with implementation teams, customer relations, and internal/external customers to engineer solutions to meet the needs of all stakeholders
  • Advanced process orientation and exhibited planning, organizational, and problem solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and leadership skills along with effective communication (both written and verbal in English) skills
  • The ability to support network operations in an on-call fashion is a requirement
