Job Description

This role sits within the Visa Russia communications team with responsibilities also for the CISSEE region. It will lead the development and flawless execution of community and employee (current and potential) engagement initiatives. The role encompasses internal communications, program delivery in areas of volunteering and financial literacy, change management and social media initiatives.

Community engagement drives our reputation, relationships and brand preference in the communities where Visa operates. In this role, the applicant will draw on a detailed knowledge of Visa's products, services, assets and staff skills that will build strong, vibrant relationships across the full spectrum of Visa stakeholders. It requires direct interaction with senior executives, business leaders, government officials, NGOs and Visa staff to understand the challenges facing the communities in which we operate, and to create platforms and programs that will help meet those needs, reinforcing Visa's long-term commitment to developing local businesses, economies and communities. In this role it is vital to take a partner-first approach, creating innovative, bespoke responses to the unique needs our stakeholders face.

In this role, the applicant will work with the Russia and CIS leadership team and key functions including HR, Marketing, Corporate Real Estate, Compliance and Legal to create and deliver innovative employee programs that help the team feel that their work at Visa has a meaningful impact on our business as well as on the communities in which we operate, fostering a sense of purpose and team. The role is responsible for developing employee messages and communications across the business.

Programs managed in this role include Visa's award-winning financial education program; Visa Volunteers network; charitable contribution funds; humanitarian aid funds; corporate responsibility initiatives sponsorships; business continuity and Hub incident management communication.


  • Build and enhance Visa's reputation and relationships among target stakeholders
  • Drive brand preference and positive movement in Visa's key reputation drivers
  • Develop communication and relationship strategies that support Visa's business objectives
  • Showcase Visa's commitment to improving the lives of everyone, everywhere through humanitarian aid, community spirit, economic growth and financial education
  • Work with the business to understand key stakeholder challenges; develop bespoke strategies to help our stakeholders face those challenges
  • Work with team to ensure personal and professional development goals are set, understood and met
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and support across Visa business
  • Drive efficiencies and ideas transfer across both territories

Executive Relations

  • Develop and manage all communication from the Russia and CISSEE group country managers
  • Work with HR to craft executive-led change initiatives
  • Oversee creation of agenda, messaging and materials for all-staff meetings


  • Work with cross functional team to support various employee communications initiatives (eg. #getdigital)
  • Consistently designing and implementing innovative, leading edge digital employee programs

People Management

  • Lead and inspire hub-based social, employee, corporate responsibility and financial education team members
  • Ensure team is seen as innovative problem solvers and trusted advisors with senior regional management
  • Inspire staff across the business to try new approaches and innovative problem solving ideas

Regional Media Management

  • Drive and front regional media engagement to establish Visa as a thought leader in employee engagement; corporate responsibility and shared value creation; and financial education
  • Support and oversee local market media efforts in community and employee engagement including financial education, charitable contributions, employee volunteering programs and humanitarian aid programs

Employee Volunteering

  • Continue to innovate in employee volunteering space
  • Create platforms for skilled volunteering opportunities for Visa staff at hub and market levels
  • Identify and nurture relationships with key NGO partners at regional and local levels

Public Affairs

  • Deploy Visa education, volunteer and corporate responsibility assets to support Government Relations and/or local market leads in their efforts to build relationships with regulatory authorities, central banks and other government and community stakeholders


  • Lead development of programs to bring the full value of Visa's sponsorship assets to employees
  • Work with Marketing and Operational Support teams to bring visual elements of Visa sponsorship to all offices in the region(s)

Issues Management

  • Work with executive team to develop and deliver approved messaging around internal and external issues to Visa staff as they arise
  • Work with GBC to manage communication around the Incident Management Team for the Singapore Hub (two sites, approx. 1300 people)


Key performance indicators will be developed between the successful candidate, his/her team and direct manager and will reflect Visa's leadership practices (driving growth, spurring innovation, executing on commitments, raising client performance and leading people).

In addition, the following criteria will be assessed:

  • Strength and breadth of financial education partnerships

  • Employee engagement survey metrics relevant to employee communications and engagement



  • The right candidate will have 10 years of experience, preferably both in-house and within agency
  • Brief and manage a range of vendors including publishers, graphic designers and communication agencies
  • Proven ability to create and deliver innovative communication and social responsibility platforms
  • Ability to advise and manage senior executives
  • Understanding of markets across CIS and Russia and proven ability to deliver culturally relevant programs
  • Creative, solution-oriented problem solving
  • Ability to work across functions and geographies to deliver programs and secure/manage budgets
  • Track record of multi-source budget procurement forecasting and management
  • Good written and spoken English; proven ability to edit the writing of others


  • Expertise in all Microsoft Office programs
  • Expert PowerPoint skills including graphic design
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator
  • Experience in creating and analysing data in SurveyMonkey
  • Event management planning and management expertise, both in content and logistics
