Job Description

Position Summary

Visa Direct is an exciting, new payment service that Visa provides to clients (issuers, acquirers, processors, merchants and service providers) to facilitate fund transfers/disbursements to Visa accounts in the U.S. and around the world using push payment technology, i.e. Original Credit Transaction (OCT). Visa Direct consumer and business applications include person to person (P2P) transfer, person to micro-business transfer (e.g. payouts to shared economy providers), funds disbursement (e.g. insurance claim disbursements), and more. The push payments opportunity in the North America is estimated to be more than $10Trillion of payment volume, replacing cash, checks and ACH with push credits directly into bank accounts in real-time.

The NA Visa Direct Product leader will be responsible for functional (strategy, performance management, issuer enablement, operational model) and business P&L leadership (Canada, Bank P2P, FinTech P2P and Issuer Processor growth) across US and Canada. The role will require both strategic thinking and an action-oriented approach.

First and foremost, this role is focused on growth – we are at the tip of the iceberg and need to push hard to capture the full opportunity in front of us. This leader will drive us from “start up” to scalable business model, and be responsible for significant P&L growth. We expect growth to be significant – moving Visa Direct in US and Canada from $1B PV a month to $3-5B per month by end of 2017 and $100B of annual PV in the next 2 years. This role has direct responsibility for over 70% of that volume and growth.

This is a client-facing and broad-reaching leadership role so organizational savvy, interpersonal and negotiation skills are critical as he/she will interface with all areas of Visa (sales, marketing, pricing, legal, risk) and with executives from some of our largest clients (Square, Facebook, Google, Intuit, BAC, Wells, Chase). Visa is looking for an individual that is a thought leader in strategy and business growth with a proven track record of success in fast-paced environments with demanding timelines.


Responsibilities:
 P&L responsibility - Lead growth of Visa Direct in US and Canada from $1B PV a month to $3-5B per month by end of 2017 and $100mm of annual PV in the next 2 years; manage allocation of $10-15mm “implementation” pool and the $1mm annual op ex budget to ensure optimum deployment of resources for maximum impact.
 FinTech P2P business – Lead key relationships with a focus on growth including Square Cash, Facebook Messenger, Google Wallet, and others; act as primary contact for these key relationships, including negotiating contracts, leading growth, and ensuring Visa’s fair share of volume; lead these clients as they expand globally to new markets outside the U.S.
 Canada growth – Ensure launch and growth of Canadian market: including issuer, acquirer, processor and service provider readiness, and rapid growth of new programs; lead key clients including TD Bank, RBC, CIBC and others to enable and deploy new programs.
 Bank P2P business – Lead overall strategy and execution of the complex Bank P2P landscape including the relationship with Early Warning and their board of bank owners; this component, in particular, requires significant finesse.
 Issuer Processor business – Lead strategy and execution of the complex issuer processor landscape including multiple P2P solutions, as well as launching new use case, including several with Fiserv in the bill payment space.
 Strategy – Lead development of key strategic questions for NA Visa Direct, e.g., Faster Payments in US and Canada, Credit Card OCT enablement, in-bound and out-bound cross-border payments, competitive positioning and pricing
 Performance Management – Develop and lead regular performance management cadence including business reviews, internal communication and governance process
 Issuer Enablement – Ensure strong Issuer fast funds coverage and approval rates; work with VD Operations and Risk team to identify issues and execute plans
 Client support model – Refine client implementation and account management support model to ensure scalability and excellence; work with VD Operations and Risk and CSS support teams to refine and execute
 Liaison to Global Visa Direct – Work with partner Visa Direct teams including global strategy, pricing, platform and operations to best execute in North America, and support the growth of Visa Direct globally, where appropriate







    

Qualifications

Qualifications:
 Proven leader with a track record for successfully developing and commercializing new businesses
 15+ years of experience, including at least eight years of experience leading teams in payments area.
 Excellent problem solving skills with a strong focus on clients
 Demonstrated thought leadership and the aptitude to think creatively and identify new ways to innovate and differentiate products with evidence of tangible business results
 Passionate about what you do and fired up about the opportunity to transform payments working for the industry leader
 Ability to inspire direct reports, and influence those without direct management responsibility
 Ability to explain complex business and technical concepts to a broad audiences in an approachable way
 An advanced degree from a top school strongly preferred
 Comfort leading and working closely with cross-functional teams required
 Visa and financial/payment industry knowledge as well as P2P, B2C and B2B market experience is a plus, but not required
