Job Description

The DMPD Data Engineering and Analytics team has many exciting opportunities in the field of Software Engineering. How would you like to build some of the tools that are critical to moving & transforming data-driven insights into valuable information at Visa? You are a data geek and proud of it! If so, this is the right job for you. We are looking for a candidate with a Software Engineering background who is passionate about Data. As part of the DMPD Data Engineering and Analytics team you will be responsible in not only building data pipelines to efficiently and reliably move data across systems, but also build the next generation of data tools enabling the company to take full advantage of the data. In this role, your work will broadly influence the company's data consumers, analysts and next-gen product decisions.

As a Senior Data Engineer of DMPD Data Engineering and Analytics team it is expected that you have high attention to detail and quality. You are a team player with knowledge of structured problem-solving assignments.


Responsibilities:

Build data expertise and own data quality for the awesome pipelines you build
Architect, build and launch new data models that provide intuitive analytics to your business partners
Design, build and launch extremely efficient & reliable data pipelines to move data (both large and small amounts) in/out of our Data Lake
Design and develop new systems and tools to enable people to consume and understand data faster
Use your expert coding skills across a number of languages from Python, Shell and Java
Develop applications within the Hadoop Stack
Work across multiple teams in high visibility roles and own the solution end-to-end

Qualifications

2+ years of Java and/or Python/Shell development experience is necessary
2+ years of SQL (Oracle, Hive, etc.) experience is required
2+ years of building reports on Tableau, Micro strategy or similar tools is necessary
4+ years of experience in custom or structured ELT design, implementation and maintenance
Experience working with either a Map Reduce or a distributed parallel processing system on any size/scale is a plus
Ability to write well-abstracted, reusable code components
Excellent communication skills including the ability to identify and communicate data driven insights
Experience with Agile Development
BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
