Job Description

Visa is seeking an outstanding and highly motivated Senior Events Planner to manage and direct a wide variety of event programs spanning multiple event disciplines from: C-Level Client Event Programs, Tradeshows, Hospitality Functions and Internal Staff Meetings/Events. This role reports to the Director of Corporate Events and will be responsible for managing all aspects of select event programs while helping to advance the vision and strategic direction of the department.

The position requires: a passion for events with a deep understanding of how event engagements support business objectives, compliment a brand and align with the company’s corporate goals. A creative approach to develop event concepts, with a desire to constantly innovate and improve all event aspects. Strong communication skills with the ability to manage relationships at a very senior level; superior leadership, organization and negotiation skills, as well as the ability to manage resources and budgets effectively and creatively.

• Project management of end-to-end event processes to deliver integrated, efficiently managed and high quality events through the entire lifecycle of event development, execution and post-event management
• Assist with the development of well-defined and consistent messages that are aligned with Asia Pacific business strategies across all corporate events (internal and external)
• Work independently as well as in a team. Events are mainly in the Asia Pacific region, but may include other international locations. Travel required
• Develop metrics to support ideas for presentation to management and provide end-to-end analytics on select events
• Act as a professional meeting planning consultant offering guidance, creative solutions and assistance to various Visa departments
• Manage event budgets and expenses
• Use the event management software, Cvent, to provide analytics and monitor events
• Assist in developing best practices and implement ideas on expanding events programs through policy management, marketing efforts or other means
• Develop metrics to support ideas for presentation to management and provide end-to-end analytics on select events
• Demonstrate business and financial acumen to make strategic decisions, engage in negotiations, evaluate issues and propose solutions
• Implement best practices in events to add value to Corporate Events’ interactions and relationships with current internal clients and prospects
• Develop and maintain excellent relationships, with clients, internal stakeholders and event vendors/partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) accreditation preferred
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience in corporate events planning or similar field, preferably with a B2B or technology-based background.
• Work product must be thorough and accurate – passionate commitment to quality - attention to detail and ability to problem solve are critical.
• Must like working in a team environment.
• Must be able to triage and prioritize workload in a strict deadline-driven environment.
• Job requires overtime and weekend work, as necessary, and up to 30% overnight travel.
• Must be self-sufficient and handle own correspondence, filings and follow all company policies.
• Good working knowledge of online event management suite of tools (i.e. Cvent) including online registration and setting-up / managing web-based event programs and mobile applications.
• Self-directed personality that takes a proactive, hands-on role in problem solving, decision-making, creating new procedures and/or innovating new ways to enhance the existing department procedures.
• Possess a unique set of skills ranging from high-level strategic thinking and planning to implementing at the most tactical level.
• Ability to remain focused on project objectives – remaining calm and in control throughout all phases of the event management cycle.
• Strong analytical skills in developing, analyzing, interpreting and presenting solutions to complex situations.
• Strong leadership skills that include vision and ability to articulate sell and garner support for new ideas. Must be inspirational, persuasive and have an ability to effect change across a broad range of business units.
• Possess a range of client servicing skills including identifying vision and needs of personnel and business units.
• Demonstrated track record of developing and maintaining relationships with clients, vendors and service providers.
• Strong executive presence and the ability to influence and build credibility as a "trusted advisor" with leadership from global functions and geographies.
• Demonstrated project management experience, ability to work independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including exceptional written and oral communication and negotiation skills.
• Strong time management, organizational planning, and problem solving skills.
