Job Description

Digital and Mobile Product Development team at Visa is looking for an experienced Program manager to combine successful software development process experience with effective collaboration, facilitation, leadership, and technical skills. Reporting into the Director of Digital and Mobile Platform Services, the program manager will be responsible for all aspects of the development and implementation of assigned projects and scrum teams, and provides a single point of contact for these. The program manager will be accountable for timely and high quality execution and delivery of the projects from original concept through final implementation. This position requires working with teams that follow Agile as well as traditional methodologies. The candidate will be required to:

  • Guide the team and organization on how to use Agile/Scrum/Kanban practices and values to delight customers
  • Remove impediments or guide the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove the impediment- Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis of healing and problem solving
  • Facilitate getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work
  • Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution
  • Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information
  • Support and educate the Product Owner, especially with respect to grooming and maintaining the product backlog
  • Providing all support to the team using a servant leadership style whenever possible, and leading by example
  • Improve team velocity and leverage tools like burn downs and capacity modeling to ensure that the teams are productive Qualifications – External
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a closely related discipline OR Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a closely related discipline; eight (8+) years of overall work experience; and five (5) years specialized experience in project or program management.
  • Candidate has a PMP or equivalent project management certification and has knowledge of working in an agile environment.
  • Good familiarity with project management software tools; project management techniques; software development lifecycle in an e-commerce or web environment; scrum or agile experience.
  • SME Knowledge of project management principles and Agile development methodologies- Good attention to details, ability to think analytically and independently.
  • Some knowledge and hands-on experience of technical implementations of large scale, highly available, robust web/mobile and Payment Services applications.


Qualifications

  • Financial Institution Engagement is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with other departments and varying levels of management- Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously. - Ability to negotiate priorities across organizations is required - Ability to plan and prioritize multiple tasks effectively. - Ability to independently drive projects through to completion
  • Experience with a scrum tool like Rally is a nice to have.
  • Hands-on experience with the day-to-day management of cross functional, global software development projects
  • Knowledge of other Agile approaches: XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD
  • Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games
  • Meticulous follow-ups and follow-through of issues and actions to drive them to closure in a timely manner; Work closely with the Technical Development team to identify and communicate critical paths. - Manage and effectively deliver features committed to for the Release Train
  • Support Product Owner in developing, maintaining and grooming Product Backlog
  • Facilitate Feature and Sprint Planning, Release Planning, Daily Stand-Ups, Product Demos and Sprint Retrospectives; Removes impediments/blockers in order to keep teams productive
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams and build schedules and plans; Identifies and manages dependencies with other internal or external teams; Work with the Scrum team and with non-agile Visa teams to align deliverables
  • Handle issues/ risks proactively and work with the program manager to successful deliver the program and projects
