Job Description

It is evident from the recent industry trends that payment ecosystem has become very active area in the last couple of years considering many of the new entrants and traditional tech companies investing heavily. Given the strong demands and innovation, this will be a very exciting area in the next 5 to 10 years. VISA is clearly the industry leader in the payment industry, and is in a fast pace to transition to a technology company. Data is the most valuable asset for Visa. We have huge volume and array of payment processing data worldwide.
The Data Platform team is responsible for building Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Data as a Service (DaaS) to bring the business value from our data assets that benefits our partners, clients, and Visa business.

This position in Palo Alto will be fully accountable for delivery functions of DaaS projects including Development, Tools, QA and Release. He/She will closely work with teams in other locations for developing
and executing projects and programs within a shared strategic vision for a critical high-volume low-latency platform and batch processing systems to enable Data privacy & Security. The Data privacy & Security specialist will join the Daas Development executing the implementation of IT solutions and create a culture of awareness regarding the impacts of GDPR across the organization.

Responsibilities:

Understand the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance standards and translate them into business and data management requirements in the form of detailed guidance.

Explore and design an effective solution and architecture to make Visa data platforms and applications privacy complaint.

Raise data privacy awareness across the organization.

Design and Implement technical framework for data protection default and data privacy by design principles.

Design and Implement "rights to be forgotten" and "Data Portability" in multiple big data eco systems.

Develop and implement technical solutions for business level data protection and privacy policies, standards and procedures, as required.

Conduct regular assessments to identify data at risk and provide strategic thought leadership on how to implement technologies and processes to aid in data protection & privacy in a large scale and performed way.

Strong knowledge of the mapping of data sources, data movement, interfaces and analytics to help ensure best possible data privacy architecting.

Define and implement a data classification model for the organization/company.

Design, direct and execute data protection and privacy operational compliance monitoring activities in collaboration and coordination with the organization's security, compliance, audit, risk management and other
related corporate functions as appropriate.

Lead and execute data protection and privacy efforts for the due diligence and integration of acquisitions.

Assist large scale implementation and remediation efforts with consultation on how to implement security controls that will aid in the protection and privacy of data.

Ensure the ongoing implementation of the Data security initiatives.

Embed program into A&A (Assessment & Authorization processes) to ensure data protection and privacy requirements are assessed as new programs, systems, and applications come online, change, and are
decommissioned.

Qualifications

10+ years of information technology experience with focus on Information Governance, Data Protection and regulatory projects.

Master’s Degree in Computer Science and/or equivalent work experience acceptable.

Minimum 4+ years of experience in Data privacy and Data security.

Experience in Data Science, Machine Learning and Big Data technologies e.g. Hadoop, Storm, Spark, Hive, Kafka, Flume, NoSQL stores e.g. HBase, Cassandra, DynamoDB, MongoDB etc , and RDBMS.

Advanced programming skills in Python, Java or any of the major languages to build robust data pipelines and dynamic systems.

1+ year development experience on designing/implementing large scale privacy complaint data systems.

Experience with writing complex ETL processes, designing database systems and developing tools for real-time and offline analytic processing.

Experience with EU GDPR and other data privacy guidelines are desired.

Advanced knowledge in Hadoop architecture, HDFS commands and experience designing & optimizing queries against data in the HDFS environment.

Experience implementing Data security and privacy best practices, processes, tools, and methodologies.

Must have demonstrated experience in building systems software preferably in domains that require high through-put and low-latency.

Ability to explain and champion technical concepts to a broad audience focusing on business acumen.

Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, time management.
