Job Description

Position Description

Responsible for defining and implementing strategic plans and initiatives essential to expanding Visa acceptance in global merchant market segments. This position will report to the Senior Director of Global Strategic Initiatives and work closely with a global cross-functional group of stakeholders spanning Merchant Sales (Americas, Europe, Asia Pacific, and CEMEA), Public Policy, Financial Inclusion, Risk, Operating Rules, Merchant Marketing, Pricing, and Product teams, among others, to identify key target segments for expanding acceptance. The position will be responsible for developing and implementing sales and pricing programs, policies, and rules to accelerate acceptance development in these target segments. Another area of responsibility will be working closely with Visa’s Public Policy and Financial Inclusion teams to represent the merchant perspective and drive opportunities to Expand Access globally. The position will also focus on the identification of strategic partnership and other business development opportunities that could further the growth of Visa acceptance in different segments or countries.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and execution of initiatives to support Visa’s global strategy for expansion of merchant acceptance in underpenetrated country and market segments
  • Identify and assess key acceptance opportunities, challenges and barriers to growth in expand access countries and markets
  • In conjunction with the Public Policy team, develop acceptance thought leadership that helps government regulators and policy makers recognize the benefits of policies that support growing acceptance
  • Working closely with the Financial Inclusion team, jointly develop and lead efforts to expand acceptance for small and micro merchant segments
  • In conjunction with cross-sectional teams, execute that leverage new and existing methods, policies and practices for expanding merchant acceptance in relevant markets
  • Lead the coordination and communication of best practices and applicable policy initiatives across key global markets to further expand acceptance
  • Provide strategic guidance and support to country teams on local expand access programs and initiative implementations
  • Facilitate the development of new policies, frameworks and business levers to grow acceptance globally

Qualifications

  • 10+ years business experience in Payments/ Consulting organizations, preferably in a global capacity
  • Demonstrated knowledge of payments industry, particularly issues related to merchant acceptance; payments public policy or financial inclusion experience a plus
  • Demonstrated track record of planning, managing and concluding complex projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to establish effective relationships across levels including executive management.
  • Ability to establish, manage & grow internal and external resources and influence cross functional relationships
  • Experience negotiating business agreements and ability to enhance existing and develop new business partnerships
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically in identifying new approaches to acceptance development and implementing programs for expanding acceptance
  • Ability to enhance existing, and develop new, business partnerships
  • Some international travel required
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred
