Job Description

Visa is looking for a Lead Software Engineer, Risk and Authentication Product
Development to act as one of the key technology leaders to build and manage Visa's technology assets in the risk and authentication areas. We are responsible for the R&D of the critical risk and authentication products, applications, and services.
This includes idea generation, design, development and testing of applications and services that provide Visa clients with solutions to detect, prevent, and mitigate fraud for Visa and Visa clients.

In this position, you will act as the lead engineer responsible for optimizing performance and improving design of complicated database implementations for Risk and Authentication applications. You will be responsible for governance, design, implementation and oversight of high performing databases. You will have the opportunity to lead, guide, and mentor other people on multiple development teams.

You will have a choice to be based in Foster City, CA or in Austin, TX.

Qualifications

  • Lead analysis and database performance tuning efforts of DB2 and Oracle Databases.

  • Engineer database solutions to meet functional and non-functional requirements.

  • Manage systems configuration and ensure compliance; implement and enforce security / standards, regulations and best practices governing company policies.

  • Serve as senior technical expert on database related technologies

  • Advise project teams and development teams of standard requirements, methodologies, and processes.

  • Lead high-priority initiatives involving delivery of complex database designs with a high degree of focus on performance and reliability

  • Lead troubleshooting and performance best practices; work with cross functional teams to ensure best practice coding approach to database integration; drive entire stack performance to ensure deployment of high performance system.

    Job Requirements:

  • 8+ years of hands on design and coding experience building Java/J2EE applications is required.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field and 8+ years of relevant work experience. Master’s Degree preferred.

  • Advanced understanding and experience with optimizing performance of IBM DB2 UDB databases. Experience with Oracle database and no-SQL databases (e.g., MongoDB) is a plus.

  • Highly skilled in troubleshooting and resolving database performance related issues.

  • Experience with designing high performing applications for OLTP and batch usage patterns.

  • Experience with building Active-Active database deployment solutions with bi-directional replication between datacenters.

  • Deep understanding of data warehousing concepts, including dimensional data models, STAR/SNOW-FLAKE Schema, ETL, etc.

  • Strong at identifying and solving complex problems. Think strategically: See patterns and relationships in information and events; clarify and simplify complex information.

  • Self-motivated, fast learner, with good understanding of relevant new technologies. Find ways to enhance existing architectures
    or design new ones.

  • Self-motivated, fast learner, great verbal and written communication skills.
