Job Description

The VP, Finance for Product will be responsible for creating and implementing the business strategies related to the company’s financial planning process. This position will have oversight of the preparation, analysis and reporting of annual and monthly budgets for the Visa’s Product team.
This position will oversee an FP&A team dedicated to identifying financial trends and defining critical initiatives for enhancing the experience of merchants who partner with Visa as well as ensuring that we have an efficient and effective global FP&A infrastructure to achieve functional goals and objectives. This role will be responsible for developing and driving a proactive, collaborative partnership between the Finance and business teams, deeply embedding the FP&A function into the business, understanding product requirements, client sales and marketing needs, driving constructive and engaging conversations, monitoring client feedback, and identifying trends and opportunities to advance Visa’s overall business and financial strategy.
The VP, Finance for Product will have significant experience in leading global financial services establishing strong business and financial planning processes, budgeting, strategic frameworks and driving critical financial decisions; assessing corporate model changes and timely financial and management reporting. Responsibilities include forecasting, budgeting, financial and scenario planning through development of decision frameworks and methodologies, plus a history of well-informed judgment around technical and business investment opportunities. Candidates will have experience partnering with business leaders as well as evaluating the business economics for recommendation and allocation of capital. This position has oversight of financial planning, reporting and analysis, cost allocation, budgeting and forecasting, and enterprise PMO.   

This role will also be responsible for overseeing FP&A effectiveness across the Product organization including ensuring coordination across the business and financial teams, optimizing our FP&A processes, and improving general management through effective, real-time, numbers-based management information. This role will oversee the partnership with a broad variety of global internal stakeholders; ensuring business results are achieved and balanced with financial, capacity, risk, human resources and other regulatory considerations.
The role will manage a global team, some directly and others via a matrix structure and functional Finance staff members. Key areas of focus include forecasting global revenues based on strategic trends and new product adoption, expense forecasting, and tracking of key operating metrics. The successful candidate will need to have the ability to work across a matrix business organizational structure and closely liaison with Finance and Operations teams across the globe.

Qualifications

Financial Leadership 

  • Ability to handle projects with multiple workstreams, with proven leadership success over a wide variety of product business problems 
  • Ability to structure, manage, and coordinate complex cross-enterprise projects and processes with multiple stakeholders 
  • Drives an efficient, effective and comprehensive process for developing financial plans and analysis that links to the strategic objectives 
  • Drives profitable growth by improving visibility, forecasting, consolidation and analysis of results and key metrics while advising senior management on insights and recommended actions 
  • Creates effective performance metrics, or management, systems to drive accountability and ownership within the corporate departments and business units 
  • Responsible for preparation and analysis of annual budget and monthly/quarterly forecasts and variances 
  • Coordinates expense budgeting and loss budgeting with team leaders 
  • Provides budget information and analysis to senior management and stakeholders 
  • Ensures the highest level of effectiveness and continued skill development of the FP&A team 
  • Sets FP&A performance metrics that can be regularly tracked to measure progress

Professional 

  • MBA or relevant graduate degree from top-tier institution or similar academic experience 
  • 15+ years of experience with 4-5 years’ experience in top tier strategy consulting or corporate strategic planning preferred 
  • Global or multi-national business experience strongly preferred 
  • Strong customer focus combined with an in-depth understanding of the trends affecting the financial services, payments and ecommerce world 
  • Superior analytical and problem solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic, rapidly changing business environment 
  • Advanced level of Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint required 
  • Extended working hours may be required by management and business needs 
  • Travel to multiple facilities and global locations may be required

  • Strong executive presence and ability to clearly communicate compelling messages to senior executives and external business partners 
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to influence and build credibility as a "peer" with Global Functions and Regions 
  • Superior strategic thought leadership 
  • Experience presenting complex materials in a succinct manner to the most senior executives to drive effective decision making. 
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and influence successfully within a highly matrixed organization 
  • Identifies key drivers and performance measures for client satisfaction and engagement levels of the FP&A partnership within Product team 
  • Experience working with financial indicators to measure business performance including P&L responsibility and accurately forecasting sources of cost, revenue and risk with an ability to summarize business and financial data in a useful manner for planning and decision-making 
  • Strong project management skills and demonstrated ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives across a breadth of stakeholders

  • 8+ years’ experience in leading and managing a globally matrixed team 
  • Commitment to continuous training and improvement of employees throughout the finance function
  • Team oriented, collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible, with excellent presentation skills, including strong oral and writing capabilities 
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate and drive a team towards a strategic vision 
