Job Description

The VIP Development Support and Tools group is seeking a Systems Engineer / Programmer who will be part of a team responsible for understanding, defining, analyzing and coding tools and utilities which are used by the Visa Development teams.

We are seeking a candidate with experience (6+ years) with mainframe software programming specific to z/VM and z/OS operating systems. Must have experience supporting, leading, and training in software management use with little or no direction. This would include all aspects such as logical / physical design, defining, implementing, monitoring, reporting and utilities. Must have working knowledge of REXX, CMS Pipe, and Assembler.

Qualifications

• Expert working knowledge in Design, develop, maintenance and support of mainframe programming tools and utilities
• 6+ years of experience with REXX programming and CMS pipelines for automation of tools and functions
• 6+ years of experience with IBM z/OS Systems and z/VM virtualized operating systems
• 6+ years of Assembler programming experience
• A minimum of 6+ years of experience developing and supporting applications and utilities on the z/OS and z/VM Platform
• Interface with business and IT teams to understand and translate business requirements into formal technical requirements and application code
• Develop and execute quality unit test and integration plans/scripts to validate that application changes meet technical specifications
• Participate in technical reviews at appropriate stages of software and application development
• Adhere to all security, change control and client processes, tools and methodologies
• Proven strong analytical and debugging skills
• Ability to coordinate others work while involved with multiple work streams
• Ability to write / read / debug programs in a batch and online environment
• Working knowledge of source code management and release management tools-Jira, Bitbucket, Eclipse and Endevor
• Experience with VTS (Virtual Tape System)
• Experience with DR / BRP System support - Provide technical and disaster recovery support for systems software


Desired Qualifications
• A plus would be to have – CMS VSCREEN / Windows, Linux Shell and JAVA Script, development and support
• Financial Transaction ISO8583, XML
• Ability to perform multiple activities simultaneously with minimal supervision
• Strong analytical skills
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to interact with all levels of an organization
• Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, and Project) skills
• Advanced scripting skills specifically around automation, data collection

• Flexibility to frequently be on call beyond normal working hours
• Ability to work additional hours as needed
