Job Description

Overview:

This is a unique opportunity and calls for an ambitious, hard-working and highly analytical Finance professional to support Visa’s Innovation & Strategic Partnerships (I&SP) business unit.  

The Finance Director role supports in-depth business case development, strategic partnership deal analysis, business planning, budgeting and forecast management while partnering with cross-functional teams and Finance counterparts. While financial analysis is an important component of the job, the emphasis is on applying overall analytical skills and experience to become a highly valued business partner to the I&SP team. This individual will also have exposure to Finance senior leadership and access to Visa’s broader Corporate Finance team.The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, highly collaborative team player possessing a positive attitude and strong work ethic. This position will be based in Visa’s San Francisco office.

Responsibilities include:

  • Act as finance business partner to the I&SP team, cultivate effective relationships in order to drive financial thought leadership and successfully manage the financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end reporting processes

  • Drive high-quality, timely analysis, including developing analytical models that contribute to sound decision making and positive outcomes for internal and external business opportunities

  • Work with limited direction, usually within a complex and often ambiguous environment, to drive rigorous, fact-based recommendations to senior management, while supporting syndication with stakeholders across the organization

  • Create detailed business cases for potential partnership deals and business development opportunities

  • Prepare financial models and Executive presentations for internal funding and deal approval processes

  • Lead quantitative analysis resulting in insights and driver-based metrics that outline key performance indicators

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on financial performance and drivers of forecasts/results/deal performance

  • Identify and implement changes that improve efficiency and effectiveness of operational decision making

  • Acquire and maintain a deep understanding of the strategies, priorities and issues in the emerging payment space

  • Assist with ad-hoc analyses and special projects as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, engineering, accounting, mathematics, economics, statistics or
    related quantitative field. MBA from a top-tier school or equivalent credentials strongly preferred

  • Fast-learner with excellent business acumen and commercial intuition required

  • Seasoned professional with a minimum of 7-10 years of relevant financial analysis work experience

  • Ability to cultivate effective relationships and communicate effectively cross-functionally and with all levels of management

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to influence and build credibility as a "peer" with business and finance counterparts

  • Outstanding analytical and quantitative skills; ability to resolve tough business problems with well-structured analyses

  • Expert skills in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook. Additional experience with a complex financial system (e.g., Oracle) is beneficial but not required

  • Proven expertise in financial modeling techniques and managing large data sets

  • Must be hands-on and detail oriented to ensure accuracy and quality of output

  • Strong bias for action and ability to proactively identify and resolve issues

  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse team and produce time sensitive deliverables

  • Payments industry experience and/or management consulting background a plus
