Job Description

Who you are:

We’re looking for an experienced, dynamic, high-energy, creative, people-oriented, communications professional to play a leading role in developing, driving, and maintaining a wide variety of programs and events designed to engage, recognize, and communicate with a globally-distributed team. This includes working directly with our leadership team, managers, team members, and other business units within Visa to understand and prioritize the organization’s opportunities to keep our team engaged, informed, and recognized. This position will also assist with division wide programs, such as workforce planning and business operations. 

The role requires outstanding written and verbal communications skills, significant and relevant experience leading and managing communications programs and projects, and an ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of the organization, including both technical and non-technical staff.

Who we are:

Network Processing is a globally-distributed division of over 700 team members within Visa’s Technology & Operations organization. We are responsible for developing and managing end-to-end technology solutions that deliver secure, reliable and scalable financial transaction processing services to Visa issuers and acquirers.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Create, enhance, manage and execute upon the division’s communications strategy and plan for Network Processing leveraging all available channels based on a well-informed assessment of needs and opportunities. Proactively identify opportunities and develop communications vehicles to communicate Network Processing value proposition with current and prospective employees. 

  • Build and maintain the plan and calendar of cross-channel communications and events across the division, including All Hands meetings, team social and recognition events, and a wide variety of communications across our multiple locations and time zones.

  • Serve as an advisor, partner, and provide hands-on support to the division’s Senior Vice President and leadership team on effective communication strategies and tactics to drive employee engagement within and beyond the Network Processing team.

  • Provide hands-on writing, editing and production of content across multiple channels (e.g., articles, e-mail messages, websites, newsletters, presentations, videos, etc.) to help Network Processing employees understand what is happening within the division and its programs and what should be shared with the broader Visa Technology & Operations organization. Identify the best tools and technologies to employ in support of our team communications, collaboration, and engagement, including intranet, SharePoint, blogs, videos. Create and maintain repositories for the division’s communications and associated documents.

  • Partner with leadership and managers to plan and execute internal events, including Network Processing all-staff meetings, off-site meetings, and social events. Partner closely with colleagues driving other internal and external communications to ensure message alignment and consistency and to generate new content ideas.

  • Develop and execute communication plans to build awareness and understanding among Network Processing team members for strategies, programs and initiatives, and to drive desired employee behaviors as appropriate.

  • Draft original or edit submitted written material representing the division, its people, programs, and technologies for use in newsletters, the intranet site, All Hands, and other communication vehicles targeted to a broad audience, including executives, managers, and staff. Develop content as appropriate for Network Processing’s SharePoint sites and internal social presence (Salesforce Chatter), as well as Visa’s global employee intranet, all-staff meetings and other enterprise channels to educate employees about the Network Processing organization and relevant news.

  • Position is expected to be a senior individual contributor role, but incumbent may provide oversight, coaching, and mentoring to other team members, including interns, contractors, and/or staff members, involved in various communications and internal initiatives.

  • May be required to coordinate business operations type of deliverables within the division.
     

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8-10 years of progressively responsible experience in directly relevant senior roles in corporate or employee communications, program/project management, technical product management/marketing, preferably in a global technology company or technology division of a global financial services company.
  • BA/BS degree is required with preference for degrees in Business, Communications, Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated ability in creating holistic communication programs that span engagement, content creation, social platforms and event management. 
  • Proven experience blending traditional communication tactics with emerging opportunities (e.g., digital, social, mobile). 
  • Skilled in working with a variety of employee communication apps and platforms (e.g., PowerPoint, intranets, collaboration tools, blogs, video, photography, etc.).
  • Successful experience providing advisory and direct support in developing communications for executives and managers regarding communication strategy, message development and delivery.
  • Outstanding communicator with excellent presentation, written and oral communications skills.
  • Excellent facilitation and collaboration with demonstrated ability in gaining trust, securing buy-in and influencing change at all levels. 
  • Strong analytical, strategic-thinking, and problem-solving capabilities, with ability to distill technical information into stories for a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to design surveys, capture data, and leverage output to measure program effectiveness.
  • Advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint) required. 
  • Experience with Salesforce Chatter, Photoshop, video editing, or visual design tools a big plus.
  • Experience in event planning and management, including All Hands meetings, employee forums and feedback sessions, social and recognition events, etc.
  • Self-starter with a demonstrated ability to thrive in a team-based environment that is fast-paced, rapidly changing, and service-oriented.
