The Senior Director of Transit, North America is a rare career opportunity to work in this dynamic environment. This role reports to the VP of Consumer Products and will be a key member of the Global Contactless Product team, working closely with Visa’s transit center of excellence in Europe.

You will have experience working within the transit space and has a full understanding of the U.S. Transit landscape and the payment infrastructure needs today and in the future. Additionally, you should have an understanding of the financial services industry with specific knowledge of the payments industry, competitive dynamics, and market players. He/she has a track record of successfully working on complex project structures, is comfortable leading a large matrix organization, and has extensive experience working on multi-year project implementations. The Senior Director needs to be a strategic thinker, a strong product strategist, and deliver strategic convictions that are powerful and actionable. In addition, this person needs to have great time management skills and be capable of distilling ambiguous and complex information for executive audiences.

Responsibilities
  • As a Key member of the Global contactless Product team, you will lead the U.S. strategy for transit, drawing on deep knowledge of the technical requirements and viable business model for payments within the transit system
  • You will provide direction and execute business plans with the support of a cross-functional project team (i.e., Acceptance, Product, Issuer Sales, Innovation and Strategic Partnerships, Digital Products, Corporate Strategy, Marketing, and Risk Products teams) in rolling out new products with a clear eye towards transit functionality
  • Responsible to provide guidance and consultation to external transit agencies to ensure understanding of technical requirements, discuss interoperability issues and determine solutions for evolving the payment infrastructure
  • You'll partner with the Product, Strategy, and Innovation teams to understand future impacts on the transit industry and develop short-term and long-term plans/evolutions required today
  • Responsible for sharing key updates on business, challenges or roadblocks that impact business direction on transit in the U.S. supporting contactless payments with Executive Management
  • You will collaborate with North America leadership team on strategic projects and special initiatives as a thought partner within the transit space (e.g., product roadmaps, product ability to support transit)
  • Provide key recommendations to the Group Executive, North America and Global Head of Product
  • Work extensively with Visa’s global transit center of excellence team in London, England
  • This role can be based in New York or San Francisco


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required
  • MBA or advanced degree in a quantitative field is a plus
  • Do you have 15 years experience in leading strategy projects within the U.S. transit landscape and working on projects seeking to create an interoperable fare payment structure for agencies and customers?
  • 10+ years in project management experience in a global corporate financial services firm with a proven track record of leading high-performing cross-functional teams
  • We are seeking leadership experience in managing large, complex projects.
  • The Senior Director needs to be a strategic thinker, a strong product strategist, and deliver strategic convictions that are powerful and actionable.
  • Do you have knowledge of contactless payment types, capabilities, and models (NFC/Contactless, EMV, cloud-based wallets, tokenization, mobile, etc.)?
  • Advanced knowledge of the U.S. payments landscape, emerging players, business models, trends and how other companies have progressed payments with respect to transit
  • We are seeking a rare level of intellectual curiosity to evolve the U.S. transit infrastructure and special ability to build structure from ambiguity
  • Are you a recognized thought-leader and frequent public speaker on transit and innovation in financial services?
