Job Description

Overview

Funds transfer settlement is a critical production step in the delivery of Visa’s products and services supporting more than four thousand settlement funds transfers daily in 23 currencies for a total of circa $5 trillion a year.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and ambitious Finance professional to become a key part of our newly formed Asia Pacific Treasury team. Primary accountability will be to lead and manage the domestic settlement services, also known as National Net Settlement Services ("NNSS"), for the Asia Pacific region. Secondary responsibility is to serve as a production back-up for other AP Treasury functions, including Corporate Account/ Cash Management, International Settlement Service ("ISS"), Foreign Exchange, which allows the candidate to gain in-depth knowledge of the entire Treasury activities in Asia Pacific.

The position will have to work closely with internal stakeholders from varied functions, such as Tax, Legal, Credit Settlement Risk ("CSR"), Network Processing and IT as well as major bank partners and government entities to implement new NNSS or revamp existing NNSS. Ideally, the candidate should have experiences in managing cross-functional projects and handling legal documentations/ contracts; He/ She must be a strong team player with a can-do attitude and willing to undertake hands-on treasury production responsibilities. Experience within the payments industry or knowledge of RTGS (Real Time Gross Settlement Systems) and SWIFT is highly desirable. FX knowledge / experience will also be a plus when serving as a back-up.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Develop a deep understanding of local AP funds transfer landscape and make recommendations for how best to design efficient funds transfer mechanisms for new NNSS projects; Also review existing NNSS in AP to identify potential improvements or make changes to support new product or business initiatives

  • Interact with Government entities, including regulators and Central Banks to determine how local settlement services can be best implemented
  • Collaborate with Sales, Government Relations and CSR regarding liquidity needs, settlement design in order to identify and mitigate operational and regulatory issues
  • Engage with prospective Settlement Agents for new NNSS’s and existing Settlement Agents ("SA") to implement enhancement to existing services
  • Establish and maintain relationships with Treasury Settlement clients, settlement banks/agents and other service providers
  • Pro-actively liaise with the SAs regarding production issues, compliance related issues or any other local issues, keeping all stakeholders regularly informed of progress
  • Develop and maintain a database to document the operating model and fund transfer mechanism of each existing NNSS
  • Work with Visa and external legal to draft / negotiate documentations relating to NNSS, including but not limited to legal agreements, operating procedures, implementation guides and education materials. 
  • Review, analyze and recommend required changes to existing AP legal documentation for NNSS services to bring in line with global best practice and help facilitate improved client onboarding for changes and new entrants
  • Provide weekly/ monthly management status reporting on key AP NNSS projects and any production related issues or incidents
  • Support new SA and client onboarding by representing Treasury as SME for NNSS
  • May have to perform NNSS production duties, which include downloading, customizing and distributing daily payment instructions to SAs in a timely and accurate manner


Other Responsibilities

  • Act as production back-up for other Treasury functions such as International Settlement Service, Corporate Account/ Cash Management and Foreign Exchange
  • Support Senior Director-Treasury in other Treasury initiatives/ projects on an ad-hoc basis as required
  • Deputize for the Senior Director-Treasury as required as experience increases

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, engineering, accounting, mathematics, economics or statistics
  • At least 8 – 10 years of professional experience in a Finance, Corporate Treasury or Banking role
  • Understanding of Visa’s business is preferred but not necessary
  • Ability to cultivate effective relationships and communicate effectively cross-functionally and with all levels of management
  • Excellent written and analytical skills with demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft applications (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Visio). Ability to understand and document processes and system flows
