The Cloud Engineering team at Visa is driving an exciting transformation for internal Visa product development teams as we are building a Cloud that enables our people to build apps using principles of Cloud-Native, DevOps and Continuous Delivery. The Cloud is a complex offering supporting multiple providers, database/middleware products and security standards required by the organization; it is offered via an intuitive self-service portal and RESTful API that will always offer newer capabilities such as containers.

You as the Director of Cloud Platform will lead the design, development, operationalization and support of cloud platforms to enable application teams on their journey to cloud-native modernization.

Responsibilities: 

Dedicatedly engage with Cloud product and program management to:

• Identify requirements for platform specifically for self-service workflows and CI/CD
• Prototype, design and alpha/beta test solutions with a fast feedback loop
• Set up documentation and reporting around platform usage and support
• Prioritize the scope, size and team work

 Work with Cloud infrastructure and operations team to:

• Perform POCs on vendor products and define standards

• Collect, design and build requirements from operations teams for platform support

DevOps ownership includes managing end-to-end operations for (but not limited to):

• Self-service portal that allows developers to consume Cloud
• Container CI/CD platform that adheres to platform and security standards defined by organization
• IaaS management for one or more providers

Recruit, mentor and run an agile engineering team:

• Gauge and build a global presence as needed
• Identify and fill in implementation and support gaps
  
  

• Bachelor/Master’s Degree in CS or related field with 8+ years’ experience
• 5+ years directly leading engineering team(s) in:Build out and management of an enterprise-grade private cloud (VMware preferred):

• Support infrastructure around infrastructure automation (Chef preferred) experience
  
• Build out and management of Application PaaS systems preferred
• Build out and management of enterprise-grade container infrastructure preferred (Kubernetes ecosystem or equivalent)

Knowledge areas:  

• Microservices, OO Design Patterns, TDD, Continuous Delivery, web frameworks (AngularJS, NodeJS), cloud concepts, especially IaaS/PaaS and exposure virtualization 

Experience areas:

• Leading an engineering team that is building user interfaces, deploying applications to private and/or public cloud, developing and/or supporting cloud-native 12-factor applications preferred, passion and ability to thrive in a proactive, dynamic environment
